BU '23-'24 Season: Pandomania

Nice win. We’re basically locked into second place in HE. No way BC is losing two out of three (and that presumes we beat Providence on the road). But we want to keep winning to hold onto #2 in the PWR to get away from BC until the FF final. (of course we might see them in the HE finals too) Could we see a repeat of 1978 in Providence??? One roadblock is that it’s possible that the lower PWR between BU and BC gets sent out of New England, since UMass HAS to go to Springfield if they make the tournament. The next few weeks are going to be very interesting…

A friend saw 13 tonight on crutches and in a knee brace.

Wow, that was a bit underreported. I was wondering why Grimes was back in. Hope it’s just a week or 2. Maybe the bye next week will come in handy.

Good win tonight. UConn doesn’t seem to have much this year, especially in the net. We wore them down both nights and Caron was excellent (we need that Caron in the tournaments!)

Jay said him and Ty would be reevaluated this week and hoped the week off would help, but he had no timeline.

Wilmer’s 5 point game puts him at 6-29-35 (a strange line for a forward) and the 9th leading scorer in HE. BU with 3 and BC with 4 of the top 9 scorers. With the quality incoming classes the next couple of year at the 2 schools, despite the expected departures, expect this to continue. Celebrini on course for 30 goals which would be the first for a Terrier in 28 years (1998 Drury).

I don't think I could emotionally handle a BC-BU National Championship game. I may well have a stroke.

UConn's Chase Bradley, hit with a game misconduct for his two-handed slash of Zabaneh, has been suspended for tonight's game by Hockey East.

I wanted to see the replay of the incident, so I went on ESPN+. After Bradley was called for the penalty (and before the refs issued a 5 minute major), he skated off the ice and down the tunnel to the locker room. It looked as though he was talking to one of the coaches, while pointing to his head and waving "goodbye."

The UConn announcers made it out like Coach Cavannah was yelling at Bradley, but the camera didn't show it.

Was anyone present who witnessed it? It was a bizarre exchange between a player and his head coach (if accurate). Seems like a big middle finger.

Didn't see this in person, but I do know from a few folks down in CT who follow the team that there's a lot of belief that Cav has completely lost the locker room there. Wouldn't surprise me if that's the case here.

Everyone knows this is going to happen, right? I’m mentally preparing myself by thinking about it every single day.

The last time this came close to happening was in 1990 if everyone recalls. That was my freshman year. That was a very fun run to get there beating North Dakota 2 of 3 at home and beating what I think was #1 Michigan State 2 of 3 on the road. That was a long time ago but I remember it like it was yesterday.

It was also on target to happen in 1998, when the FF was in Boston. Though BU screwed that up when they lost to UNH in the regional final.

Nice weekend match for BU. 6-1 6-0. No breaks of serve. : )

And now a bi-week. Bleh. Not a fan as we head down the stretch.

Ugh, that team was so good with one of the most clutch players of all time in Drury. A wasted opportunity for sure. I was so looking forward to seeing BU in the Garden for the FF with a ton of fan support. It’s the only FF I have gone to that BU wasn’t in. Alt least I got to see Michigan best BC in the final.

Many BU and BC fans were claiming they should move the championship game to Boston if we both won their semifinal game. Neither team did :-(

As I'm sure you recall, both the UND and MSU series required comebacks after losing the first game. And against MSU, game three required a comeback from being down 3-1 in the game. The legend of Tony Amonte was in high gear. I made it out to Lansing for game 3, and declined the many offers for FF tickets from the Spartan fans after the game ended, knowing BU would have tickets for us. They couldn't fathom that we might win that series.

That was my senior year. Such a great run after a few forgettable years.

Normally I'm not either, but we've got a bunch of guys very banged up right now. A week off for Dylan, Ty, and others to heal up for the stretch run may be a blessing in disguise right now.

I know that it’s been talked about before on this board, but that season was just a lot of fun. Between the upsets over MSU, the Beanpot, and entertaining hockey led by Amonte and MacEachern, there were some great memories there.
