Re: BU 2017 Season Thread II: Terriers rising

think we want tOSU and pedd st to win thursday. anything to get pc to drop to a 4 seed will allow the seeds to play out and not make our boys flip to play sioux in fargo.

If we continue winning and stay above Lowell, it increases our chances we stay east and they go to Fargo. Less likely they keep the lower seed east if it's a tossup. Also, the potential of a BU-Cornell matchup would be a boost to the attendance argument.

Except as we know, Lowell would draw better as the top HE team in attendance. :D

By the way, Jasmine said today she'll see everyone at the Garden Friday. Where's BU's pregame site Friday?

mookie don't necessarily agree with that. if we see 5/6 & 11/12 having to flip to avoid nacho v nacho, bu will go to fargo and play the sioux.

also not sure there is a 'boost' as in neutral 3rd parties will go. cornellers and bu'ers will go no matter whether they play each other or not.

A BU-Cornell game off campus never draws well, you're right.

After playing with the YATC simulator a bit, it appears there's multiple scenarios where BU can lose to UML in the final and remain above them in PWR. The UNH loss Friday was a killer.

Oh and look who moved up to 15.....our friends from the other end of CommAve.

This, and BU got a bit of SOS bump for playing #22 PWR NU for 2 games instead of #39 PWR UNH for 3 games. No idea of the effect, I'll leave that to the mathematicians.

Re: BU 2017 Season Thread II: Terriers rising

Playing with the YATC tool and reading the PWR thread, the consensus seems to be in most scenarios, if BU wins two and Western Michigan doesn't win two, we're the last 1 seed. That would require WMU running through Denver and Duluth, so if they can do that they deserve the one seed.

On the optimistic side, I can get BU as the #4 overall seed on a number of scenarios if BU wins HEA tournament. I even got them to #4 overall with Minnesota winning the Big Ten and mostly favorites winning. http://pwp.uscho.com/rankings/pairwise-predictor/?uniq=pwp_58c604132121c

I found one scenario where they tied with identical RPI to the fifth decimal place. Was not pleased that BU won that 5th decimal place...

Minnesota winning does not get them over BU. I'm taking this from Numbers, but his line is this - WMU wins two, they get #4. If they don't, BU is next in line if they win two. If they don't, MN is next if they win two. After that, shrug. Of course there may be a scenario here or there where these don't hold true, but in most cases it does.
