Re: BU 2016-17 Season Thread I: The Kids are Alright

Do you not think the power play is embarrassing? Have you been watching the games? Everyone is okay with giving up shorthanded goals on a 5x3 power play? To put it in perspective, this power play is two percentage points worse than '13-'14. How can you not question what is going on? I mean, they couldn't even get the puck in the zone last night.

I feel like so many people on this message board think when BU wins a game, everything is automatically okay and when they lose, everything is horrible. They did not play well last night through many stretches of the game. Several players were particularly awful. Just because Harvard didn't capitalize enough times and win the game doesn't mean we should be happy with the at-times **** team we currently have.

Yes, the power play is awful right now. It's also November and there's plenty of time for them to work on it, so the Chicken Little sky is falling attitude and suggesting Quinn submit his resignation after beating a top 10 one-loss team (while scoring 2 PPGs no less) is beyond comprehension. We're not "okay" with giving up a 5x3 shg, but that brings the season's SHG total to a whopping one. That is not indicative of a disturbing trend of giving up shorties, it's indicative of Kiefer Bellows making a ridiculously lazy play at the blue line and the Kerfoot roofing a beautiful shot for a goal.

If Rover is calling your negativity confusing and unwarranted that should tell you all you need to know.

Midseason win against a top 10 previously one-less Harvard team who smoked BC the other night.

isn't bu in the top 10? and played this game at home. this would be a game bu is expected to win (and they did, right? the boys won 5-3 last night  )

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

now that mookie thinks of it though, how many games has DQ stolen? mookie will give him the game at QU last year. didn't expect that to be a win. have there been others?
and no, the 2nd game at michigan last weekend doesn't count.

yes but they gave up their first shg of the year so quinn should be fired

I doubt you guys play more than 5 games a season where anyone could look to give credit to win for stealing a game. He's too good at recruiting for you to enter as underdogs more than a few games a year.

Who said he should be fired? Did I miss a post somewhere? Are you referring to me? All I said is his power play is a pathetic piece of ****; it's been pathetic for weeks; he's known it's been pathetic for weeks; he hasn't been able to fix it for weeks. And those facts add up to an embarrassing situation.

One final point - the calendar works the same for every team in college hockey. It is also November for the 34 teams that don't seem to be having the same issues that BU is. Those teams also have freshmen. Some of them even have more freshmen than we do! Another common thread binding those teams is that their players are also less talented than ours are. So what is the deal? At this point, it seems to be that their coaches are better.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I would've hoped that a fellow BU alum would know the difference between being fired and resigning. I would also hope that you would know what sarcasm and caustic humor are. But then again, you are part of the group that thinks, Hey, we won! It doesn't matter how we played, or how the team is trending in its last several games.

Re: BU 2016-17 Season Thread I: The Kids are Alright

I was impressed with BU last night. It's the first team Harvard has played (incl. Quinny & BC) who successfully neutralized Harvard's speed - both coming through the neutral zone and sustaining an offensive cycle. BU really kept Harvard to the perimeter for the most part and when there was a let down, your goalie made the save.

Good luck the rest of the way!

Re: BU 2016-17 Season Thread I: The Kids are Alright

When the season is over the wins over Quinnipiac and Harvard are really going to help in pairwise
Along with St Lawrence those 3 teams appear to be best in ECAC

Now just need a 4 point weekend in conference against Providence

Re: BU 2016-17 Season Thread I: The Kids are Alright

Did everyone enjoy Harvard's "Revenge Goal - 27 years in the making?" (Where are they now, David Tomlinson?) 5 x 3 and oooops. At least it wasn't a Beanpot game this time.

I thought LaCouvee (With the exception of Goal #3) played well. Give 'em a start against UVM or the Yale game. #IvySpecialist

I loved how pumped up Curry was after scoring in the 3rd. Love the fire.

Except Dave scored two! :D

Re: BU 2016-17 Season Thread I: The Kids are Alright

if anything has been learned by us too, we should all realize that NO bu admin will ever resign and walk away from $$$$$ :D
