Harper was #1, Malone from Harvard was #2 and Fabbro was #3.

Re: BU 2016-17 Season Thread I: The Kids are Alright

I thought LaCouvee's start vs Harvard wasn't great, although he got better after giving up the third goal. I still Oettinger as the clear #1 and really want to see how he responds to his poor game Saturday and not getting the start vs Harvard.

Sean

Maybe 'not great' but he sure did have a handful of bell ringers, especially in the 2nd period. IMO, during that stretch he kept the game from going decidedly Harvard's way. Also didn't think there was much he could do on either of the first two goals. Even the third, while he certainly could (maybe should) have had it, to me it was more about an appalling lack of commitment from the captain on that particular play. I can't believe Malone was given that much room to operate and get off that shot.

Not to mention that Malone effectively used Somerby as a screen to get that shot off. Having said that, it's the type of shot that a goalie at this level should stop most of the time.

The D had poor gap control much of the night. Pretty much conceded the neutral zone and backed off constantly into their own end.

What the hell was Somerby doing on that play? That was pathetic. In general, I am not sure what has happened to this team. Against Sacred Heart and QU, they were blocking a ton of shots. It was a thorough domination defensively from everyone on the ice. Now it seems like they are hardly blocking anything and the opposing teams are getting much better scoring chances.

Also, if I am David Quinn, I am submitting my resignation out of embarrassment this morning. That power play is the worst ****ing thing I have ever seen. It has gotten worse and worse as the season has progressed. What is the coaching staff doing? How did they allow it to degrade into what we saw last night?

Also, I know he puts up points, but Patrick Harper is not good. He is never in position in the offensive zone when he doesn't have the puck. Every time he brings the puck into the zone, he refuses to get it deep and ends up coughing it up in some lame, awful turnover a few feet inside the blue line. It happened every single time last night. I know for a fact that this one is not on Quinn; Harper just refuses to get it. It is too bad so many others are injured because he deserves to sit for a game or two. Carpenter and Roberto were the two best forwards on the ice last night, it's a shame one of them couldn't be the first star rather than the turnover machine.

So, let me get this straight. Matt O'Connor single handedly blows a national championship and there's a line out the door to give him a hand job after the game out here, but one mid season game vs Harvard and we're calling for the coach's head? :confused: okaayyy.....:rolleyes:

Midseason win against a top 10 previously one-less Harvard team who smoked BC the other night.

{pretending for a moment you're not completely insane}

Do you mean Bellows?

{no longer pretending}
You're nuts.

Re: BU 2016-17 Season Thread I: The Kids are Alright

Do you not think the power play is embarrassing? Have you been watching the games? Everyone is okay with giving up shorthanded goals on a 5x3 power play? To put it in perspective, this power play is two percentage points worse than '13-'14. How can you not question what is going on? I mean, they couldn't even get the puck in the zone last night.

I feel like so many people on this message board think when BU wins a game, everything is automatically okay and when they lose, everything is horrible. They did not play well last night through many stretches of the game. Several players were particularly awful. Just because Harvard didn't capitalize enough times and win the game doesn't mean we should be happy with the at-times **** team we currently have.

Re: BU 2016-17 Season Thread I: The Kids are Alright

Did everyone enjoy Harvard's "Revenge Goal - 27 years in the making?" (Where are they now, David Tomlinson?) 5 x 3 and oooops. At least it wasn't a Beanpot game this time.

I thought LaCouvee (With the exception of Goal #3) played well. Give 'em a start against UVM or the Yale game. #IvySpecialist

I loved how pumped up Curry was after scoring in the 3rd. Love the fire.

Boy, if every coach with a bad November power play submitted his resignation there'd be no one for the writers to get quotes from.

If you are denying that Patrick Harper gives up way too many turnovers and makes very poor decisions with the puck, then you are either not watching the games or are very stupid. I recommend watching a replay of the game last night and watch every time that he brings the puck into the zone.

Did you read his quotes after the loss on Saturday or listen to his post-game comments? Pretty sure we can do without them.
