BU 2016-17 Season Thread I: The Kids are Alright

Dipietro split time with Jason Tapp (I believe) for the first half of the season. Kind of hard to believe in looking back on it (No offense to Tapp who certainly went on to good things, but at that time, he was at best a serviceable back-up). I guess Quinn is seeing a big enough difference already and doesn't want to get Lacouvee time until the team gets some more positive momentum.

Before Sean Fields' time Parker was married to having two goalies split the starts for the vast majority of the season, Quinn wants one goalie be THE starter. For better or worse in both cases.

Thanks. should be a very good game tomorrow. I'll be heading to Agganis for the game.

Thought I saw somewhere that Kevin Duane injured an MCL. How serious? Tough break after sitting out last year. Kid really worked hard while at BU and used his size assets well. At last year's BU-QU game, saw him seated with injured Matt Grzelcyk and TJ Ryan.

Don't know how serious but usually those MCL's especially if they are sprains are multi week injuries.

Quinn's still tinkering with the lines:
Bellows-JFK-Carpenter
Harper-Keller-Greenway
Olsson-Curry-Cloonan
Kelley-McDermott-Roberto

Hickey-Fabbro
Krys-McAvoy
Somerby-MacLeod

Four freshman scored against Sacred Heart. When was the last time BU had four freshman score a goal in the same game?

This is not true at all. My database records only go back to 1984-85 season, but in 1983-84 Cleon Daskalakis was the main goalie in 1983-84, playing in and getting the W/L for, 35 of 40 games and on 1982-83 he played in 23 of 30 games. Beginning in 1984-85 Coach Parker used one goalie in more than 75% of the games 15 seasons, starting with Peter Fish in 1987-88, Scott Cashman in 1989-90 and Michel Larocque in 1998-99 before using Sean Fields for three seasons (2001-04), John Curry for three seasons (2004-07), Brett Bennett (2007-08) and Kieran Millan for four seasons (2008-12). Left out of that are Tom Noble, who played in 70% of the games in 1995-96 and Rick DiPietro, who played in 69% of the games in 1999-2000. I have created a spreadsheet with BU Goalie Stats for 1984-2016. It is missing games started, but I may go back and add that information into my database.

Total shot in the dark, but I am going to guess it was in the 2006 BU-UNO NCAA game when Chris Higgins had a hat trick (Yip or Lawrence or some freshman must have put in one of the other 6 goals).

Other class that comes to mind would be the MacArthur/Bourque/Ewing class.

Edit: forget my first answer, misread the question.

My first thought was the "Fab Four" freshman class of 2001-2002, but I checked out some of the higher scoring games and didn't see any. Not going to check out all the 4+goal games. :)

Last nights attendance was pretty pathetic for the home opener of a top ten team. I hope they do better tonight.

Going by the Agganis ticketmaster page, tonight will be much better attended.

I really appreciated the youth hockey promotion they did last night. I complain about the high cost of going to games (and eating there, etc.), but last night my son, his friend and I all got in for free. I expected to see a lot more youth hockey jerseys being worn, but there weren't many.

I suspect the fact that the weather was atrocious may have convinced more people to wait until tonight (I would have if it hadn't been for the promotion).
