Re: BU 2016-17 Season Thread I: The Kids are Alright

Any comments on Bellows so far?

I haven't watched too much of the first 3 games (2 exhibitions), but it was surprising that in a game when Keller had a Hat Trick, Bellows had no points. To me he doesn't look out of place, and I think he is getting some scoring chances, just maybe not as many as he is used to. I'm not worried, he is top-2 line material for sure, and unless things really go south, I'm sure Quinn will keep him paired with Keller.

Any comments on Bellows so far?

Seeing him play twice so far, he reminds me of Brian McConnell. McConnell was a fine player and a very good captain, but I think much more was expected out of him offensively. Bellows reminds me of him because similar size, both left sticks, same number?, both have offensive talent, but perhaps a half step too slow? Hopefully Bellows adjusts and I'm eating my words, but those are my thoughts for now.

According to the Denver Post, the Pioneers will match their top line against BU's Bellows-Keller-Greenway line. Denver's top line includes freshman center Henrik Borgstrom, a first-round pick last June (whom BU tried to recruit) and Troy Terry, an NTDP teammate of Greenway and McAvoy. DU has lost its top scorer, Dylan Gambrell, to injury for at least four weeks. DU's coach has made it a challenge for Borgstrom, who is 6-3, 185.
Head-to-head with Keller,” Montgomery said of Borgstrom’s line playing against Terriers freshman center Clayton Keller and his wingers. “First-rounder against a first-rounder and see where you are, kid”

Bellows seemed to be squeezing his stick too hard against the U18s and missed the net very wide on a few shots--surprising for a sniper who scored 50 last season, one of only four to do that for the U18s. Played better vs. Colgate and I suspect he'll do fine once he gets his first goal. Fortunately for him, Keller is always aware of where Bellows is.

Hopefully that means Harper and co. will have some great opportunities this weekend!

I agree regarding Bellows. He isn't a defensive liability, he's not turning over the puck or making poor decisions. I suspect he just needs to adjust to the game and get the first couple in the net and then he will be fine.

Kiefer has never been a speed burner, more likely to run over you then blow by you. His strengths are his shot, hockey IQ and strength on his skates and the puck. I did wonder if he has the speed for this level. Looks like I can check out the game tonight off the dish after the Gopher exhibition with U18.
Thanks.

Looks like the game is going to be streamed on NCHC.tv. Does anyone know if that is free?

I've ordered Gov. Baker to close the entrances to the Tobin Bridge until late tonight .

Re: BU 2016-17 Season Thread I: The Kids are Alright

Quinn is splitting up Bellows and Keller already after a one goal loss? Can't say I agree with that but what do I know?

Oettinger gets his third straight start (4th if you count U18s). Looks like our question is answered on who the #1 is.

Just realized that the game is on DirecTV channel 681-1 (even though on the guide it says "Boston College at Denver"). It's about a 15 second or so delay from the radio broadcast.
