BU 2014-15 season threat III - Jasmine gets to see us 4 more times

Re: BU 2014-15 season threat III - Jasmine gets to see us 4 more times

I'm confused why there is so much hostility towards the FF ticket process this time around. Isn't it the same as in DC? Are many people getting rejected now who got tickets through BU in 2009?

With BU getting 600 tickets there are likely only 450-400 tickets after student tickets and families of the team. Assuming everyone requests just a pair of tickets that means only 200-225 requests are fulfilled. Does anyone who is getting rejected think they are one of the 200 biggest boosters in the program?

Is the frustration higher than with DC just because that year face value tickets were easily available on secondary markets and now they clearly are not?

I wasn't surprised to be rejected- season tix since '03-04 and no FOH is a lot less than many of you out there.

What is annoying is the very vague concept of loyalty points, how many are earned for season tix, donations, etc. If they were smart, they'd publish that and encourage people to donate to FOH to get higher status and higher likelihood of getting tickets to Beanpot, FF, etc.

Re: BU 2014-15 season threat III - Jasmine gets to see us 4 more times

Do you know where you stand?

Does anyone know their position?

We have established that many here have no idea what their points tally.

Fair, if they could include on the Account Manager page a little box updated every 6 months that stated your TLP and percentile that'd be a big improvement. The end result would be the same, but a little more clarity would be nice.

Info about how they are earned are on the website: http://www.bu.edu/changingthegame/donor-community/loyalty-points/

The mystery is where we each fall within the list. They used to send that out, and it would be nice to know....

Exactly

Though even the percentile is misleading cause again there are thousands of people in the program.
What we should see is your #d position (ie 250th), along with Sara in where you are it for availability since premium seat holders bypass the TLP pecking order and get first dibs.

Transparent programs work best. No excuses when sunlight shines :D
(Though they'd still be forced to hide brownies bucket of 100 ducats :p )

Nailed it on the head. I saw this coming as a possibility, that's why I purchased tix with the NCAA this past winter. I am all set to get into the games, just would rather have been in the BU section. While I am mildly surprised at not being above the threshold (w/ 21 yrs season tix, and many years FOH) it is the lack of transparency and lack of communication that irks me. I have no idea what my point total is, even though I asked to receive an update of them the last 2 times I re-upped with FOH. No idea where I lie as far as ranking percentile. I was fairly high even before Agganis opened, maybe 20-30's percentile, but with premium seating, etc. I know things may have changed there. Instead we get a fairly to the point email saying that we did not have enough loyalty points and a link to go to the NCAA ticket exchange where lowest prices went from $400 to $600 over the course of the day before the email came out.

I know there are many donors bigger than me and them along with the premium seat holders would get tix first. Also, my hope that the students aren't getting screwed. However, the transparency needs to improve and recognition/reward for giving needs to improve. I have well more then enough points to get loge Beanpot and HEA seating. I am not going to give more than the $150 FOH minimum just to improve my standing just for the once in a decade Boston hosts the FF (and BU making it, God willing!) I am open to giving more, it just feels like it is not appreciated sometimes. IMO, it started when Terrier Pride began to take over from FOH. Really, how hard should it be to get my point total? The frustration really starts there.

Well... :)

FoH and TLP have nothing to do with each other.

And there is no longer a minimum level with this $150 you speak of. Recall DQ email following the survey last summer? He said they learned that nobody gave a chit about levels and stuff that was passed out- so they did away with all that. It is just give money, thank you.

This is in line with the TLP which award points based upon athletics giving. Ericredaxe for example gives to the sport he played and that gets equal footing to FoH donations.

Have you "missed" a year of donating? Points are higher for each consecutive year of donations than they are for consecutive years of ticket holding.

21 year men's, 4 years women's, 15 or so consecutive FOH with decent donations and shut out. That's why I get them through the NCAA every year.

But hope is not lost. If the find some I may qualify and they'll let me know by Friday. Not holding breath...

Re: BU 2014-15 season threat III - Jasmine gets to see us 4 more times

Agreed on all points (no pun intended) regarding transparency. Numerous friends/acquaintances who got them in '09 thru BU were shut out this time and they all said they just wanted to know where they currently stood, and what changed between 2009 and present.

I actually found the last TLP statement I received; it was from March 2011  with my TLP total after the 2009-10 season. One major issue I have with the TLP structure is they de-emphasize men's season ticket holder loyalty. Currently it has the same value as women's ice hockey, men's and women's b-ball (2 points per year for each). I think they must re-emphasize men's ice hockey season ticket loyalty and give it the same point value as consecutive & total years of giving to BU Athletics (5 points per year).

Re: BU 2014-15 season threat III - Jasmine gets to see us 4 more times

I'd like to help peeps get a grasp on what gets In and what doesn't, but I bought lottery aince I take both kids and only have 2 season tickets (in DC the younger kid was able to sit with us on the edges so 3 in two seats wasn't a problem.

I have 350 points now and again WAS able to get 09 tickets. The points tally was changed so what I had then isn't applicable.

After finding the TLP statement it triggered my memory about the points tally changing in July 2010 where much greater emphasis was placed on the financial support elements of the program. B/c I recall in '09 I only had ~110 points and made the cut then.

So the guy who would go see BU hockey on the moon and his "sidekick" can't get tickets?!? :p

I know (think, who really knows) you had much more points than me so I am surprised you got shut out. I know you got tix through NCAA like me but I was pretty sure you would still get in.

Good thing we already have tickets. The "wrath if the sidekick" is not something you would want to face. :)

We attended every home and away game this year yet would have been shut out of the biggest ones.

I got my email this morning as opposed to last night do I guess I was in the second wave of rejections.

Transparency and clearly stated standards would limit their room to maneuver.

Re: BU 2014-15 season threat III - Jasmine gets to see us 4 more times

So, it sounds like you have to be a Brown crony or over 70 years old to get FF tix. Good to know.

Tweet just came through that says: John Buccigross ‏@Buccigross 55m55 minutes ago
Tonight on Sportscenter, Jack Eichel in studio to talk Frozen 4, NHL Draft, anchor highlights, & shoot pucks

Re: BU 2014-15 season threat III - Jasmine gets to see us 4 more times

This just in! Season ticket holder for over 30 years = No FF tickets. I guess they're all going to big $$$$$ donors.

Re: BU 2014-15 season threat III - Jasmine gets to see us 4 more times

So here's my two cents (nobody asked, but that has never stopped me in the past). I have already accepted the fact that I am going to be watching on TV, simply because I am not paying $500/ticket. The comparisons to DC are not even relevant, and here's why:

1) There was no "home team" in DC. Everyone had to travel there.
2) There was no North Dakota in DC.
3) You had two relatively "weak" traveling schools in Bemidji and Vermont (and no HUGE state schools that draw thousands)
4) This is in Boston, which is a hockey hotbed. People who are not necessarily fans of any particular team, but who have the money and are willing to spend it, are going to pay more than I am willing to. Almost NONE of those people would have traveled to DC if they didn't have a "rooting" interest (I didn't say "all").
5) Tons of "connections" for people who, again, would not necessarily be interested.

That's just the way it is...I understand the complaints about the loyalty points thing, but again, I believe the INITIAL number of tickets that were even available is FAR LESS this year due to the factors mentioned above. Meaning, before they even got to the list, most were gone...

And, you know, I'm really sorry...seriously. People like you deserve to go (far more than I do - I've followed BU actually for 44 years but have not had season tickets for that long). It's no consolation, but I sincerely believe my previous post sums it up. They just ain't gonna be there. It's not because you're not high enough on the list (OK - I guess "technically" it is)...it's because so many were (I hate to use this word but Mookie is right) "skimmed" off the top before they even got to the list that you would have to be VERY high up to get anything. And before people start accusing me, no, I don't have any inside information. But think about it people.... And, if you don't want to entertain that thought, consider this more objective one. If each school gets 600 tickets, you can find 600 people to go IN BOSTON in five minutes. You couldn't do that for DC.
