some fact but also sensationalized? Yep, we agree. I haven't said otherwise...never denied what the players in question may have done.

So there is "some fact" to the hookers and the blow and the coverup? But not total fact?

Re: BU 2013 Offseason Thread - Bring on the Mighty Quinn

I've never denied they must have done something incredibly stupid out there.

I haven't denied any of the details as to why they were kicked off the team.

So what you're saying is that as long as the Globe doesn't report on it, it doesn't count? Seems like everyone is pretty much agreeing that illegal activity took place but York thought it would be best to not report it to the authorities and handle it internally. What is the argument here about then? If even the BC fans agree that they did something illegal and no one was ever arrested and details on what happened were never released, that seems like everyone agrees there was criminal activity and it was covered up in some way. But really who cares? If players want to have some fun and pay for girls and do some drugs I say have at it. The real question is why so many hockey players from Boston can't seem to find girls willing to have sex with them without paying or forcing them.

Re: BU 2013 Offseason Thread - Bring on the Mighty Quinn

If there was criminal activity...

1. What happened to the local police?

2. Doesn't any coverup, if there was a coverup, make the persons involved in the coverup, complicit in the crime? I've never studied a minute of law, but it seems a bit obvious that there may be liability here.

I had no idea that was part of a Jesuit education. Good thing I got out after Confirmation. :D

if the police are never told, then they are not part of the equation.

assuming for the sake of argument that Jerry caught the kids red handed, he has no duty to call the cops and he is not "complicit" in the crime just because he didn't call the cops.

if Jerry flushed the coke down the toilet, that is a different story
(and i have studied at least a minute of law)

I do not see any liability on Jerry's part, or anyone else at BC.

I'm not a lawyer, but I'm going to take a stab at it that this is incorrect. If (let's assume the story is 100% true) I witness an obvious crime, don't report it, then actively work to cover it up and make sure it is NOT reported or reaches the light of day, then I am indeed complicit and guilty of a crime. I believe it's called accessory after the fact.

You are arguing with 'Maine hockey mom'!!!

Re: BU 2013 Offseason Thread - Bring on the Mighty Quinn

I don't know if anyone has said this for sure but are there actually people out there who think a coach should involve the police if they catch a player with a drug or drugs? I look at a college coach as being similar to a parent. Despite the disappointment, you're not involving the police. And it's not like there weren't severe consequences involved here. They never played another game--that was it for them.

Sure, would be nice to know every little detail about what happened during and after, but who knows if we'll ever get that. I just don't see a responsibility for york to involve police in a situation like this. Wouldn't see it for any other coach either.

I think people do expect the coach would do so, namely the administration at BC, the NCAA and BC's lawyers.

Ah yeas, pirate...

If you think the police should have been notified for something like this, we can just agree to disagree.

Yeah, I don't think you are right that the coach is just like a parent. Maybe 20 years ago...but with various liabilities, NCAA regs and likely something in the coach's contract about reporting stuff I think any coach has to do more than "keep it internal".

Denial
I needed a good laugh, thanks guys!
Anger
that tweet is complete, utter garbage
Bargaining
If you believe this was the biggest or one of the biggest coverups in college sports, mookie trained you well
Depression
why would anybody want that tweet to be true about the program they follow?
Acceptance

That has to be a record
