BU 2013 Offseason Thread - Bring on the Mighty Quinn

Re: BU 2013 Offseason Thread - Bring on the Mighty Quinn

Sounds a lot like what people probably said when John Hynes started getting into the coaching ranks. I trust Quinn's judgement on this.

Also, are we so sure that Quinn is going to hand off the recruiting function to an assistant? I get the fact that he can't be doing it all - he can't fly off to Saskatoon to watch a guy play all the time. But if Greeley is good at watching and evaluating talent, then when it is time to make the pitch, bring in the guy who recruited BU to a national title, has coached at just about every level, amateur and pro, and is going to move BU back into the National picture year in and year out.

Jack Parker was, what, 26, when he took over as BU's head coach? And had won four ECAC championships by the time he was 30.

If you are good enough, you are old enough. And you need not have been a marquee player to be a very good coach.

You guys are the unquestioned leader in that department (hi agganis--your favorite topic)...

But yes, saying brownie and loguey deserves ridicule. Cav is ok though.

And here I thought all of the Igles had left to go and haunt the UConn thread ...

Take it for what it's worth but, I've heard that DQ has mentioned a few times off the record that he would support BU hockey joining the NCHC (the new conference with north dakota, denver miami...) at some point in the future. Jack's loyalty to hockey east would never have allowed it. But, would be interesting to consider whether it would help recruiting from a national standpoint. I know it's ultimately not DQ's decision, but I think the jump in competition would be a good thing

hmmm. i may be just being provincial, but i think nacho is quite a bit below hea in stature (hea is behind the big 6, but not as far as nacho is behind hea).

Agreed. You'd be hard-pressed to find anyone outside of the NCHC who thinks that conference has a brighter future than Hockey East.

What if BC were to leave for the Big10? I've heard loose, unsubstantiated rumors.

Re: BU 2013 Offseason Thread - Bring on the Mighty Quinn

I really don't see that happening. I don't know, I guess maybe if it did, BU might look elsewhere, but now we're playing "what if" with, IMO, highly unlikely scenarios.

BC has as good of a chance of going to the B10 soon as BU does to the SEC

The ACC schools signed their media rights to the conf through 2027 so if someone leaves no tv $$

Good for Joey. I wish him much success.

So watching the Penguins goalie mess last night reminded me that John Curry used to be the 3rd or 4th goalie in the Pens system. Where is he now?

Orlando (ECHL). Got one game in with the Aeros (AHL) this season. Played in Germany the season before that.

Hey, 4 NHL games played is more than I'll ever have. Further than I ever would have expected.

How about Brad (Hobey Hat Trick) Thiessen?

Brad Theissen is in the on deck circle for Pittsburgh-played for Wilkes-Barre Scranton

Maybe they should hustle him up to the plate.

After the Bruins 3rd goal last night, it was apparent the Pens would make a change. Accordingly, the camera flashed to Fleury on the bench. He didn't seem very excited about the prospect of entering the game. Maybe, it was just me.

Privitera brothers are gone from BU according to USHR. Wonder what caused that since Alexx by all indications finished his academic year at BU?
