Re: BU 2013-2014: Ready to Quinn

if it makes you feel any better, take a look at dartmouth's last five games or so. they've been playing much better hockey of late.

Re: BU 2013-2014: Ready to Quinn

We thought the last few years of Jack and the criminal allegations was bottoming out. Not so fast ....BU is probably in the bottom 10 D1 teams in the country this year.

I only go back to the late 60s and wasn't as intently involved throughout much of the 80s, but could this be the worst BU team ever...maybe??

Re: BU 2013-2014: Ready to Quinn

Well, with all due respect, I hope Maine doesn't let up. Can still remember the Maine/BU battles.

*edit... just saw Maine beat BU this season while I was not around to see it. However, nothing makes up for the 93 loss. Nor the water bottle incident. And also the years of hairy sasquatch. And the countless times Laroque knocked the net off.

The latter Cleverly years in the mid fifties to early sixties they had a bunch of single digit win seasons then in the Parker era some scattered 14-20 type records so they have a chance to be the worst in the "modern" era. You are probably looking at 5 or 6 more wins this year so I am not sure how many wins that would give them on the year. It not so much the losses but the absolute domination by the opposition these games aren't competitive

That's what I meant by "worst." I mean, do you have confidence that they will win going into ANY game? Seriously. You can't even say for "sure" that they will beat Merrimack. Someone else mentioned this a couple of days ago...they don't seem to play with any purpose (which is much different than intensity or hustle). They just want to get rid of the puck. There seems to be no organized offensive strategy. Two things bother me. 1) How can a head coach in his first year seem to be so disillusioned and dispirited? You almost (well, not "you" but "I") get the impression that he's already regretting the fact that he took the job, which was purported to be one of the "crown jewels" of college hockey. 2) Regardless of who is behind the bench, just going by last year's personnel, how can a team regress so much in one half season? It's as if all the wheels just fell off? Do these players have no pride? I KNOW they are not "unskilled" - we saw them make great strides at the end of last season. Totally inexplicable and very disappointing. I have held my tongue all year, but I am really beginning to wonder if BU will ever really be a factor in hockey again. And if these "crowds" keep showing up, it is not beyond this administration to cut bait. Seriously...nobody thought they'd drop football or wrestling, either. This isn't exactly Wisconsin, where, first of all, the base is much bigger, and even in "down" years they draw 10,000 or more fans (and I don't want to hear the "But it's Boston and there's so much else to do") Frankly, if I were an outside analyst observing this, I would say this school and fan base doesn't deserve any better. What a bunch of fair-weather hypocrites.

Re: BU 2013-2014: Ready to Quinn

You're all a bunch of entitled fans who are spoiled. Quinn and the team will be fine, don't question it. Everything will be fine once Quinn's recruits are here. Turn in your BU jersey if you can't accept this as truth.

now you know why they call us fanboys. It can't get much worse than this. BU would get killed by Alabama Huntsville or AIC. it's not even that they lose, it's that they just don't care. Neither do I.

I agree with the previous post. The BU administration has always wanted to become Univ. of Chicago or NYU. This squad is ten seasons away from being dropped if this keeps up. Sad.

ABSOLUTELY. Hell, I would have made the trip up from CT for that. WBA's metal roof makes that place LOUD, even for women's games.
And that's not even the old tin roof that used to be in there pre-renovation, they took that out and put a newer one in that's too shiny and nice to be as loud. You could put a boombox in the old WBA and it'd sound like an orchestra. Unfortunately, you also wouldn't be able to comprehend a word coming out of said boombox.

i was serious when i asked below if they will get to 10 wins!!!!

Ok. I called Bentley and I called tonight. Not that I'm Dave Starman or anything but here's Saturday's score: Maine 8 BU 1. Craig Janney will slur the entire evening and Tom Caron will suck as usual. "Scooooooooore". Gawd Caron is bad.

JOFA= Mr. Glass-Half-Full?

I don't see a single probable or likely win left. There are a few "winnable" games and many, many "no shot" games left.
But quibbling over a few wins doesn't matter. For the rest of the season I'd rather see some sort of identity develop that signifies Quinn has started to impose his preferred style on the team. Right now it's mostly just a collection of young and marginally talented individuals who don't seem to have a unifying sense of purpose.

Re: BU 2013-2014: Ready to Quinn

Last five games
1 tie (Merrimack)
4 losses (Mack, Bentley, Dartmouth, Harvard)

Whoa.

Re: BU 2013-2014: Ready to Quinn

you guys will be fine nxt season.
transition is often painful.. never easy.. & rarely a slam dunk right away.

Re: BU 2013-2014: Ready to Quinn

I love that a four game losing streak = shut down the program. Awesome stuff guys. Thanks for the laugh.

This team has lost their heart and soul. Someone needs to throw a hockey nutty and start turning over some **** and throw a few things. The next puck they dug out if the corner, net they crash, and neutral zone pass the connect on will be the first. Brutal.

And I come home to the Rangers scoring a late goal to beat the Blackhawks. Crap.

Re: BU 2013-2014: Ready to Quinn

Not saying t would have changed the outcome, but not having Roberto or Rodrigues certainly didn't help matters. When a guy who hasn't even been a regular starter is on your top line (Lawrence), you know you are having line-up issues.
