BU 2013-2014: Ready to Quinn

Re: BU 2013-2014: Ready to Quinn

I'm holding out hope that the $9.10 for a Long Trail was jacked up pricing for the Disney event. (Although the pricing on the sign looked to be of the permanent sort)

I'm with you though, I think at $9.10 as compared to the previous price of $8.03, I won't be buying any more beers at Agganis.

They will definitely be getting a nasty comment from me in the next survey.

I gotta be honest, I don't know how you guys can afford even an $8 beer. I'm too practical and think…hmmm one here or a six-pack from a store….

I'm with Rover - take me back to the good old days of doing shotguns in the T'Anthony's bathroom before the game and then hit T's Pub after the game. Of course, it's been 25 years, so my body wouldn't take too kindly to it.

Re: BU 2013-2014: Ready to Quinn

They (Aramark?) should train everyone who works in the arena how to properly pour beer and perhaps install a Turbotap system. I see tons of beer wasted and poured down the drain because they are not pouring the beer properly and it is coming out too foamy. A few simple fixes and they could lower the price of beer a dollar and make the same profit because they are increasing the yields on their kegs.

Picked up a winter warmer one night.
First one was plain harpoon- so she poured that out
Then the winter warmer took three tries and she topped it by just continual open tap until beer was gushing over the sides to get te head off.

If I didn't enjoy seeing the fool in action I would have cried at lost of delicious beer!!!

makes sense to me but they wouldn't lower the prices ........ at least the beer wouldn't be wasted though;)

Got an email advertising $10 tickets for the Dartmouth game.

Now THAT is what I am talking about. Hoping to take advantage of it, haven't read the fine print, but I'ms rue they are really $15-17 after fees.

Desperate times call for desperate measures. I'll be there having already paid for my full price season ticket.

Can Tommy and Matt take Eichel back to Boston with them?

Re: BU 2013-2014: Ready to Quinn

Although It is a bit annoying to see $10 tickets having already paid full price for mine, I'm glad to see them trying to do promotions to get people in the building... They have to drop ticket bastard though... My friend said his $10 was $18... 80% surcharge!!!!! I also appreciate the freebies they offer to the season ticket holders... Extra free tickets, basketball tickets etc.... I have taken advantage of those.

So did Kruker and that other kid actually leave?

Per the BU website it looks like the game is now at 1PM… too bad with the timing as I (I'm sure along with most people) will not be able to make it. I too was planning to take advantage of the tickets they offered and was hoping for a good turnout. Hopefully they will do a similar promotion for a later game when the weather cooperates.

I like to have at least one beer, and a bag of peanuts, at the game...so I can understand one or two $8 expenditures. But I don't go for the beer, it is just a habit*.

The most egregious behavior I've witnessed is at NFL games...people are so conditioned that they are supposed to drink at games that they drink a ton before the game, pay ridiculous prices during the game, miss parts of the game to get in line early for more beer and often drink to the point of missing out on the game in general.

Link below doesn't focus as much on beer and appears to be a little dated...but it is informative regarding the business of concessions.

* I think a man {working outdoors} feels more like a man if he can have a bottle of suds. That's only my opinion.

Re: BU 2013-2014: Ready to Quinn

Since there is no 5th place game, will we have O'Regan and Gryzlek back in time for Saturday's game against Harvard? We need all the help we can get.

To Bomber's point, it's too bad Eichel can't join them. Wow can he play.

Re: BU 2013-2014: Ready to Quinn

My wicked smart DVR knows I like college hockey, so it records all college hockey games on NESN. They showed a two hour version of the BU-BC Fenway game yesterday. It was fun to watch it again. Of course the idiot who edited it down to two hours cut out BU's first goal. (Must be a BC fan.) Three NHLers (four if you count Warsofsky's call-up.) and a host of strong supporting players on that 2009-2010 team. What a waste.

Seriously, UNH uses them too. What, exactly, is the benefit to the school for using them? Their surcharges price a lot of people out of tickets...

because they pay for the right to administer ticket sales... plus the arena doesn't have to set up websites, et al. for said ticket sales.

Re: BU 2013-2014: Ready to Quinn

Are the $10 Dartmouth tickets only for season ticket holders? The Agganis website says tickets are $29.50.

running one's own payment processing is a hassle; schools outsource it often, whether it is tuition, fees, parking tickets, books etc. The school would need to have staff on board that is not fully optimized plus be accountable with MC, Visa, Amex with all the rules and complaints and chargebacks etc. For the 1.5% of interchange, it isn't worth it. They also don't want to charge students more fees themselves...grossing up for interchange and charging to offset the other expenses would make the school look bad, better to have some other entity charge you a fee so you hate that organization...not the one calling you to solicit you for the annual fund.
