Sounds like the first BC/BU game in a looong time where there was just a complete mismatch in talent and where the losing team didn't stand a chance... I like it!!

So Kurker and Lawrence sit out. Ryan, Ronan and Moscatel skate (a bit).
Anyone know what was behind these moves? Did they earn ice time via a week of strong practice sessions?
For the most part, Ronan sat on the bench. I didn't notice Ryan after the first few shifts.

Wasn't Kurker a 2nd Round NHL draft pick? Not exactly developing well with only 1 pt in 7 games...

Kurker is a penalty waiting to happen. He takes at least 4 a game. That's my guess.

I think he wore #16 last year and I was looking for his # to see how much playing time he got last night but I guess he switched to #9. I have to admit I didn't really noticed him last night. I think #19 has more promise than Kurker at this point. He's kind of fading like Cisse last year.

I guess he's using his size the wrong way and competing with Cody Ferriero for bad boy of HE this year who was suspended already for 2 games last weekend

I believe I read somewhere that Kurker was benched for taking bad penalties.

I believe that Kurker missed the game because of a death in his family. His production hasn't been there, but his play has improved since the first game when he benched for two offensive zone penalties. He has played much harder, and in both ends. He has been a positive presence, even if the numbers don't yet show it.
The big difference between BC and BU is that the Igles group of forwards is not only better, but much deeper.
Ronan showed why he has only played a handful of career games. He is not up to this level. He made some serious mistakes, twice leaving the puck in the slot. Putting on D against BC's first line was a mismatch of biblical proportions.
Ryan can skate, but he is not ready for this level. And putting him on the third line? I know Quinn and his Dad were roommates, but he had no business being there. Or back on D, where we was exposed several times in the first PC game.
MacAfee looks like a much better player right now.
Moscatel is what he is. He hits, he hustles, he is very limited.
BU just lacks any depth at forward.
Kelley should have been playing up. Duane is painfully slow. but his positioning is very good, he hustles and he's got decent hands.
Quinn has rotated a lot of guys so far, giving everyone a chance. He should have seen enough by now to know his best lineup and stick with it.

I too was confused and not terribly happy with Ronan and Moscatel playing. Moscatel I could see a justification as a fourth-line grinder used sporadically against the big BC defensemen, but Ronan was just in another world out there.

If you think Kurker has been getting worse then you haven't been watching the games. And Cisse didn't fade last year, he had nothing to fade from. He did nothing but skate around the ice like he was just ice-skating for fun while people played a hockey game around him. Last year Kurker was lost on the ice, this year he plays with a purpose. He may only have 1 goal, but no one has more than 3. The offense is just terrible all around.
While Oksanen has clearly been the most improved player returning from last year's team, Lane and Kurker are the next most improved. Kurker has finally figured out how to use his size to knock people around and create space. Lane has some serious speed and at times can use it well.
Ronan and Moran should never be on the ice during a real game.
Those are all support players though, the problem so far is the complete disappearance of last year's best players. The top four returning goal scorers have a combined 8 goals in 9 games. That's 8 total goals from the top 4 returning forwards. For comparison, Gaudreau (BC) has 9 goals so far this season, Kevin Roy (NU) has 8 goals, Ross Mauermann (PC) has 7 goals. Hohmann and Rodrigues are juniors now and as veterans, they need to lead the offense. A combined 3-8-11 from those two through 9 games is not enough.
I think I mentioned in a previous post that Parker's offense seemed to be based around the defensemen because a defenseman was always in the top 3-4 in shots on goal. I had hoped Quinn would move away from that, but with Oksanen and Noonan leading the team as the top two in shots on goal, that doesn't seem to be the case.
