My list of untouchables is a bit lighter than most, as the team is awful this year I can't see too many of these guys being safe in their roster spots.

Going into next year O'Regan and Baillergeon definitely, Lane and Hohmann okay, after that be prepared to work your arse off to get ice time because you could easily lose out to a freshman.

Sadly, there aren't that many freshmen on the way.

Plus Carrabino makes 9, but he is likely in the 7th-9th range among the D.

28-30 players? That's gotta be a modern era record (if they all come/stay).

Does no one realize that Hohmann is leading the team in PPG? Or that he has more goals than O'Regan or Baillargeon in 5 fewer games? He may not have the raw talent of some of the players on the team, but he is the only one who seems to consistently work hard and make things happen. If you think Hohmann isn't vital to this team, you are very mistaken. BU's goals/game average dropped by almost a half a goal/game over the five games Hohmann was out (with 3 of those games against Bentley and MC). And as for Lane, he's one of only two players on the team who doesn't have a negative +/-. And yes +/- isn't the best indicator of a good player, but since the team is -29 I think it should be looked at. So yes, O'Regan and Baillargeon are very good players, but I don't think Hohmann and Lane are getting the credit they deserve.

Is he really slower than Brian McConnell was? I've only seen the televised games this year, so I don't know first hand.

Is this list only forwards? I hope you're not insinuating that you think Gryzzelwelck has to fight to prove he deserves ice time next season. I would add Rodrigues to the Lane/Hohmann category as he clearly has skill, skates well, and doesn't dog it on the ice. That said, his production the past two seasons has been disappointing, so here's hoping he has a Yip-like senior year resurgence.

Looking at Agganis's roster number addition, I don't see how there aren't either a few cuts or non-scholarship guys who are permanently relegated to the Craig Sanders Memorial Suite. Carrying three scholarship healthy scratch D and five healthy scratch F's each night is not a good idea.

Yes correct, only the forwards. While the D needs a vast improvement, Gretzky, Somerby, Oksanen have something to work with. Obviously I have no issue with O'Connor (or really Maguire for that matter).

Not on board with Rodrigues. He can play as hard as he wants but I need to start seeing results on the ice.

Oksanen is only good going one way, and it's not in the defensive zone.

Have seen a few indications --such as this article-- that Piccinich may spend another season in the USHL. Since BU was in the hunt for Cameron Hughes (committed to Bucky) and Waterloo's Tyler Sheehy is reportedly making (or has made) a visit, that wouldn't be a surprise.

Piccinich received and accepted an offer from Boston University prior to the start of the 2012-2013 season, meaning that either next season or the year after that, he will join the college ranks.

"I'm really happy," Piccinich said of his commitment to Boston U. "I love the city of Boston and that school and I'm really excited to throw on a Boston University jersey and play for them because it's a lot of fun."

Although the Phantoms don't know if Piccinich will be playing another year in Youngstown or joining the Terriers next season, one thing's for certain: His teammates will be looking to get him the puck in the offensive zone.

I suspect that one of the reasons for taking a fourth D recruit (heavy-hitting walk-on Ori Abramson) is that JD Carrabino isn't part of the blueline solution. Besides Ryan is available for emergencies.

Or just it could be that too many players who go their first two initials (TJ, AJ, JJ) would be a hardship on game announcers. ;)

Not really sure what happened to Rodrigues this season. He always seemed capable of creating his own chances. He had ~17 goals last year, correct? This season? 3? Although Megan and Nieto are gone so he gets more focus.

I think O'Connor is OK but if any team scouts him they'll see he drops down into the butterfly way to early. He gets beaten over the should all the time. All. The. Time.

another blue chipper is in discussions to decommit current school and come to BU for 2015

I can live with an offensive defenseman provided there's somebody else back there to pick up the slack. Unfortunately this year there's no one to do so not counting the goalie facing 50 shots a night.
