Re: BU 2013-14 (Part II): Crash before the Phoenix

Not to denigrate the 25 yr old Moscatel but he is a walk on from the BU club team he is a filler because of roster depletion can not be compared to the Holmstrom situation .
Am I the only one that is now wondering….why is a club player that old? I guess he hoped to play varsity, so played some years of junior, then it didn't work out the way he planned so gave up hockey (beyond club) and enrolled at BU.

From the BU website:

BEFORE BOSTON UNIVERSITY
Played at University of New England for the 2009-10 season, finishing second on the team in points with 13 (7g, 6a) ... Spent one season with the Boston Jr. Bruins after graduating from Belmont Hill School in 2008 ... Senior captain at Belmont Hill

So a year at the jr bruins, then a 5 year plan for college (maybe lost some credits transferring). Plus having a December birthday would put you on the older side of your graduating class.

Re: BU 2013-14 (Part II): Crash before the Phoenix

So this is his 5th yr in college (2008 post grad jr bruins, enrolled NE 2009) and late birthday (held back)

Either way like Ronan (our other >23) is not and never was a key recruiting piece of the pie.

The new "normal" is graduate hs at 17/18
Play a yr of jrs
Enroll in college 19/20
Graduate at 23/24

It is the elite few who draft high and skip the post-grad jr yr and enroll as regular college students.

What we are seeing more and more from schools who don't have the pull to recruit high end youngsters is that 2nd yr of jrs with 20/21yo incoming freshmen that gets peeps worked up so..

That said, do they keep totals of how many times a team is offsides? It seemed like Lowell was offside every 30 seconds last night.
Lowell's game is dump and chase. They must have switched it up and went to chase and dump. :D

Re: BU 2013-14 (Part II): Crash before the Phoenix

BU got swept by their main rival I expected an upset in one of the games.
I don't think you understand what an "upset" means. It means that the team that was supposed to win didn't win. If you expected BU to beat BC, that would mean that BU wasn't the underdog.

This probably doesn't deserve a response, but I'm going to go get some popcorn just in case. :p

Re: BU 2013-14 (Part II): Crash before the Phoenix

bu doesn't play in consolation games, of course bc was the underdog. jofa, right again ;)

Re: BU 2013-14 (Part II): Crash before the Phoenix

i would actually love to see a team literally not show up for the consolation game. i don't think there should even be a consolation game.

Re: BU 2013-14 (Part II): Crash before the Phoenix

bu had better not take this game lightly and mess up their PWR

Re: BU 2013-14 (Part II): Crash before the Phoenix

Who is going? I will be there. Hoping to channel 1994 when we lost to Harvard in the opening roung and spanked NU something like 8-0 in the rare consolation game. All I know is if we lose to Harvard to take 4th place for the third time in five years, I am not going to be pleased.

Oh, and go Huskies....

Correction: would be for the third time in four years....

Interestingly, the Harvard seniors are going for the distinction of being four-time winners of the consolation game.

Given their level of success in the Beanpot, that would actually be a pretty unique claim...

But we'll make sure they don't get there. Right boys?

Re: BU 2013-14 (Part II): Crash before the Phoenix

Here's something to watch for the rest of the season. BU's top three forwards have a combined 55 points. Gaudreau has 56. Who finishes the regular season with more points?

To clarify, that would be Gaudreau vs BU's top three forwards in terms of points when the regular season ends.

4th place again!

BU and the Beanpot=market correction. Oh, and we suck.

NESN replays last weeks BU BC game instead says a lot. Talk about meaningless the NFL pre merger had a consolation game between the two first playoff round losers and they actually filled a stadium for it.
