Federal League has a good assessment of Saturday's game on the CHN Blog. Let's hope he's right about Megan.

Power play remains a work in progress, but putting Gill on the point with Nicastro seems promising. A passer and a blaster.

I agree on Megan. He's not a 4th line player. It will be interesting how this all sorts out. Especially if Cisse joins the mix.

I really liked Privitera. Two hip checks! And the kid appears to have spunk.

IIRC, we were asked when Northeastern joined, but we declined at the time.

Ya, just read up on it a bit. Believe it was because CAA was too football-centric. Still think BU prefers the A10 over the CAA for the same reason.

When that decision was made I supported it. In principle I still do. However, it is quite a promotion going from America East to the A-10. Other than BU's facilities and the Boston market, what indicator of future success do we offer? At least the CAA would be a nice middle step. BU does pretty well in basketball in Am. East and absolutely dominates the conference as a whole.

BU tried to join the A-10 a few years ago but was rejected. The CAA is only a minimal improvement over America East.

Re: BU 2011-2012 Season: The bar is low, boys!

We published our weekend stories on the blog and Freep website today. Here's a quote from my Millan story. I was wondering what you guys think about this statement.

On his teammates not blowing the shutout like they've done in the past:
“There were some individual efforts that really helped, like I know Kevin [Gilroy] beat a guy down the ice for an icing,” Millan said. “I think that’s the fastest I’ve ever seen him skate in my three years and a little bit.

“Just guys really buying into the system and putting in a good effort like that. It not only goes a long way for me keeping pucks in front of the net, but it makes me feel good about my teammates and know that they respect me and are willing to put themselves on the line to keep the puck out of the net.”

Seems like a good sign to me if the guys are buying into the system, as he put it... my reading between the lines there is he feels as if the guys are "putting the team first" so to speak.

Having participated in the NC run as freshmen, and having accomplished virtually nothing the past two seasons, perhaps the seniors are promoting the virtues of hard-work and self-sacrifice on and off the ice to the younger players.

Re: BU 2011-2012 Season: The bar is low, boys!

Certainly is a good sign to hear that coming from Millan. Also, what's everyone's thoughts on who starts in goal this weekend? I have a hard time believing Millan gets both games this weekend this early in the year. I would think Rollie would get PC but I can't remember him ever starting a road game last season so maybe Parker uses him against Denver since it is out of conference and early in the year.

Rollie started and performed well his freshman year at UNH. He also played at MSG in 2009. PC isn't generally a tough road environment and they're a team we should be able to beat, so starting him that night would be a good idea. The DU game is huge for PWR in that they're the only WCHA team on our schedule, so a loss to them would put us in COP jail with virtually every other WCHA team, whereas a win is huge in that department since DU will get their fair share of WCHA wins.

My somewhat arbitrary guess would be Rollie on Friday and Millan on Sat.

Re: BU 2011-2012 Season: The bar is low, boys!

Now what evidence is there to suggest milan will play 85% of the games? Well besides the past three years...

Re: BU 2011-2012 Season: The bar is low, boys!

I wouldnt count on a rotation. Expect Milan to play 85%+ of the games

I'm not saying there will be a rotation especially after how Millan looked against UNH but he isn't going to start every game either and in the past couple of years, Parker has given Rollie starts early in the year when there are two games in the weekend aka this weekend. I would expect Rollie Friday in Providence. I wouldnt expect to see him again for a couple weeks after this weekend with only one game next weekend.

I never said rotation. I said I was guessing that Rollie might start on Friday. If there is an early season game that Rollie is going to play, this would be the one.
