Re: BSU '10-'11: Can the Beav's Read the W and be in the Hunt?

It is time for the annual College Hockey Trip for 6 guys from Rochester, MN. This year BSU vs CC Feb 10/11. You will know it is us when you see a WI Fan sitting with a ND fan and SCSU fan. We could use your help. Where should we go to eat and drink before and after the game? We are staying at the AmericInn® Bemidji, MN. Thanks for the Help!!!

Re: BSU '10-'11: Can the Beav's Read the W and be in the Hunt?

What are you in the mood for?

If you are looking for burgers, the Corner Bar (Nymore), Bar 209 (downtown) and Slim's (north of town) all have very good burgers. My personal favorite is the Corner Bar and it is close to the Sanford Center in Nymore. All three of them will have your beverages of choice as well.

Downtown, there is Keg and Cork, Brigid's Cross and a couple of other bars that are good post game hang outs.

For Pizza, Dave's is the place to stop in Bemidji. It is located at 15th and Irvine, but it fills up fast. It opens at 5:00 and for a 7:00 game, you will want to be there right at five, not only to get a table, but to also make it to the game on time. They take some time with their pies, but it is definitely worth it! They also serve beer.

There is a new BBQ place opening up, Dickey's BBQ, that will be close to the Americinn right on Paul Bunyan Drive.

There is also the chains in town. Green Mill is attached to the Hampton Inn by the Sanford Center. If you decide on them, you may want a reservation for food before the game. After the game, it is another hangout for some drinks. There is also the Ground Round and Applebees out by Target and Walmart, which will be west on Paul Bunyan Drive from the AmericInn.

The AmericInn will be right across the parking lot from Perkins, so you will be able to get some hangover food on Sunday!!!! :)

Some of the places offer shuttle service to the Sanford Center. Ground Round, Corner Bar and the bars downtown all have their own shuttles, just in case you don't want to pay the $5 for parking at the Sanford Center. It may take a little more time to get back to the bars than if you drove on your own, but it would allow you to partake in a few more adult beverages at the Sanford Center (they have both beer and mixed drinks, just get a wrist band as you enter the Sanford Center).

Enjoy the trip and hopefully you enjoy the Sanford Center!

Loved the new revamped and louder goal horn at the sanford center!! great win for the beavs tonight.

The new horn does sound good, all four times tonight. Rumor has it was donated by a couple from Grand Forks.

Re: BSU '10-'11: Can the Beav's Read the W and be in the Hunt?

was able to record the empty net goal on my smartphone and i think it might be the same horn as the calgary flames... if not it is very close

Re: BSU '10-'11: Can the Beav's Read the W and be in the Hunt?

Thanks to all of the great Hockey fans we met this weekend.....It was a great time!

Re: BSU '10-'11: Can the Beav's Read the W and be in the Hunt?

With this weekend's sweep of the Tigers, the Beavers now sit three points out of a home ice spot and four points out of fourth. At Minnesota, home with Wisconsin and at Anchorage left on the schedule, so there are some points available to the Green.

Re: BSU '10-'11: Can the Beav's Read the W and be in the Hunt?

BSU has a verbal from Markus Gerbrandt of the Fort McMurray Oil Barons of the AJHL. Markus is a 5'11", 175 lbs forward from Edmonton, AB. This season he has played 54 games and tallied 30G-28A-58 Pts, and 61 PIM.

Re: BSU '10-'11: Can the Beav's Read the W and be in the Hunt?

From INCH's "First Shift" for this week:

What We’re Watching: In compiling the latest edition of the INCH Power Rankings, Bemidji State seriously caught our eye for really the first time this season. On further examination, the Beavers are compiling a very good season despite flying under the radar. With eight of Bemidji State’s first 10 games on the road this season, including trips to Miami, Colorado College and Minnesota Duluth, it was bound to be a tough start. A mid-November split against North Dakota, really set the team in motion and they’ve been on a roll since the start of December. In eight two-game weekends since then, Bemidji State is 10-4-2. The only “bad” weekend in the stretch came when they were swept at Denver, and there’s no shame in that (just ask the Gophers). More consistent play from senior goalie Dan Bakala has steadied the team, and they get scoring from committee. It’s kept them in the race for a home-ice berth in the WCHA playoffs, and with the last two weekend series against the teams currently 11th and 12th in the standings, Bemidji State has a good say in controlling its own destiny. Plus, they might be catching Minnesota at a good time this weekend, and it’s a series that Bemidji State always uses to measure itself.

11-4-2 if you count the 1-0 victory over UND on that Sunday back in November!

GO BEAVERS!!!!
