Brown University Bears 2011-12

Re: Brown University Bears 2011-12

I wonder if it is possible to tone down the rhetoric and simply wish the team and all involved the very best? I certainly hope so.
Word. I hope those who have been steadfast in calling for a change at Brown now support the program with the same resolve. It really isn't good for women's hockey as a whole to have any program dip as low as Brown did, and it takes the contributions of many people to build a program back up.

Re: Brown University Bears 2011-12

Has there been an official announcement from the AD about the change? Or is this mentioned change just speculation/rumor?

Re: Brown University Bears 2011-12

It didn't take long for you to show what a class act you are, did it?

As for knowing what was going on at Brown, just like a blind squirrel finding a nut, you too can guess right occasionally.

Enjoy your happy dance and remind everyone that you are smarter than everyone. And when the next coach doesn't get the team righted in the time you think it should take, you can start your ranting again.

I would rather see my daughter play in an empty rink than to be cheered on by fans like you who celebrate the demise of a coach like you do and insult anyone who calls you out for your boorish behavior.

Re: Brown University Bears 2011-12

Digit Murphy is no longer going to be coaching the Brown Women's Ice Hockey Team. Thank the Lord :D They have hired someone new... it rhymes with Shmoady Shmackena.

Shmoady Shmackena has 11 wins in 3 years @ D3... be careful what you wish for. You can make the argument that Wesleyan has gotten worse since she's been there!!

Re: Brown University Bears 2011-12

Ladies and Gentlemen - August 2011 Press Release - Introducing Jim Fetter and his side-kick Dave Gwyn as the new HC and AC. Sorry Mr. Coady. ;)

Would someone like Mark Bolding of Norwich ever be given any consideration for this position??? Just inquiring really cuz he has done an amazing job in a very short time at Norwich and players that I have talked to tell me that he and his staff are awesome to play for and do a great job balancing being "player coaches" with the just the right amount of discipline to keep everyone moving in the right direction and towards the same goal. No D1 experience but they might do well in giving a upstart D3 like this an opportunity. Breath some fresh air into that stagnated program........this guy is a winner and I would not be surprised if for the right job he wouldn't be willing to at least listen........he continues to move the way he has his first 4 years with Norwich and there is no way he stays there.....just don't see it happening.

Someone like Coach Bolding - yes; but I doubt that Coach Bolding himself will apply anytime soon. He is having way too much fun (and success! D3 National Champs - congrats!) at Norwich and has deep ties with that school - which is both his and his wife's alma mater - and with the community.

D3 to D1 coaching change is a leap at the HC level - but can be done if the person has their finger on the pulse (ie knowledge of systems; players) of a top national team and its development program. Someone on this blog thinks Coach McKenna is in at D1 Brown U - making switch from D3 Wesleyan - but she is also coaching at top national level with USA Hockey. (Contrasting with Coach Bolding - who is not involved with Hockey Canada and appears to have limited experience with USA hockey at the Festival level.)

Experience at a D1 level is also a plus with Coach McKenna having a few years as a D1 AC at St. Lawrence on her hockey resume. Anytime learning from Coach Flanagan is a bonus for sure!

So....you would recomend hiring a former Murphy disciple?

IMHO Brown should cut all ties, start with a clean slate, get some new blood in there. If they don't...this program will be doomed for eternity.

I am already on record in this thread regarding the choices out there. However it would be an eye-opener if JF actually applied for this one.
