Brown - Oops! They did it again.

Re: Brown - Oops! They did it again.

HCKY85 has made it quite clear that she was opposed to Digit's coaching style and all of the features of Digit that come with the package. You just are anti anyone who is anti-coach so you couldn't discern his/her intent.

I have no problem with someone not liking the way a coach coaches, however to come on here and hide behind a screenname with all those negative comments and then to say "i don't dislike her" is weird. I was just pointing out that if she says those things about someone she doesn't dislike, what would she say about someone she really does dislike.

Re: Brown - Oops! They did it again.

Especially if the truth is dirty, it'll take even longer to get it's pants back on.

Or that's what the Romans say.

Okay, I might of misrepresented myself on that one. I meant to say I think she should be fired because I don't respect her as a coach not because of some dislike for her. Although I'll admit, I might not be a fan of her personality but I've never seen that as a reason for her termination.

Re: Brown - Oops! They did it again.

At first it was kind of cute how you guys always stick up for each other, but now it's just getting annoying.

If you want people to stop assuming notfromaround here is digit then say who it is. If you don't want to say who it is then let people assume its whoever. No one cares who it actually is. People are just getting fed up with someone calling out everyone who they think has some fake identity, when all we know is nfah is some imaginary person with all the answers but no where to be found.

OK, you can stop with the "it" pronoun. I have an x an y chromosome. I'm pretty sure that Digit doesn't fit that description.

And fan007 seems to have spent his (or hers, I'm not sure yet) entire afternoon researching my posting history to try to figure out who I am, although I'm not really sure why.

It is people like fan007 that give me very good reason why I don't leave public comments as to who I am. Quite frankly, I don't want my daughter's picture on a milk carton.

And yes, there are other several members here who do know who I am, have met me in person, and know my daughter, several of whom haven't even participated in this thread.

And as to "sticking up for each other", it would seem that there are two bunches of us here. The ones calling for Digit's head seem to be fairly new members (all have joined within a month or so of the various Brown threads being started) and for the most part over 90% of their posts are on the Brown threads. The rest of us are pretty much members who have been around a few years, have interests (as expressed in other threads) that go far beyond Brown hockey, but pretty much share the notion that new members advertising themselves as parents of current players (cookie)shouldn't call for the coach's head on a public forum. Yeah, others, yourself included have joined in the fray, and if not for cookie's stoking this (and the other) Brown thread, I and most of the rest of us wouldn't be here.

In other threads, the rest of us often disagree with each other, but it doesn't get nearly as heated as this thread has become. And at the end of the day, we all like to set back with a whoopie pie and appreciate what a great forum this is.

None of us oldtimers are "single issue" posters and would love it if the rest of you could chill out, join a few other discussions (the olympic thread has been quite good at times) and find something else to hunt rather than the coach's head.

As to the issue of people calling out others who may be faking their identity (I assume here you are talking about me here), yes, I do question cookie's identity. She came on this forum with a single purpose which many of us found objecionable because of her stated role. I participate on a variety of forums of different interests (Brown Hockey is not a significant factor in my life). One thing they all have in common is something call a troll. A troll, is a new member who comes on and immediately starts making posts that are intentionally inflammatory to the norms of the forum community. Cookie, and several others here happen to fall into this category of troll.

This forum is rather unusual in that many ban trolls when they see them. The moderators here don't ban trolls that I've seen, although they occasionally do ban members. I know because I have had a hand in one particular member being banned. This particular member went to great lenghts to not only insult womens hockey, but also made a pattern of sexist posts about various female members in the womens forum. And yes, I did turn that member in. I have not reported cookie, as what she is doing (at least if she is who she says she is) is not in violation of forum rules. While she doesn't seem to have violated stated forum rules, her whole agenda is objectionable to me and several others here.

If I do find that she is other than she says she is, that I think would be grounds for the moderator to review. I do question how a mother can so recklessly risk her daughter's reputation by posting what she does, hence my questioning her true identity. And so far, nobody here has actually said that they have indeed met cookie and she really is who she says she is. Very strange because she seems to say that she always seems to be around the Brown parents in the stands, but nobody recognizes her. Perhaps she is who she says she is and knows what she is doing would not be looked favorably by other Brown parents. However, it is also likely that she is not a parent.

Sorry about the long rant, but I thought I might clear the air about some issues here.

Re: Brown - Oops! They did it again.

You get very touchy about the weirdest things. There was no hidden meaning behind the word "it", I don't know anyone on this forum so I tend to use gender neutral pronouns.

I just think it's not that important who anyone is here. Everyone's entitled to their own opinion. They don't need to have some big name to back their thoughts up. And the whole parent of a player shouldn't post here is just how you feel, it's not part of some set of universally accepted rink side manners.

I'm interested in Brown Hockey and boys youth hockey which I don't discuss here for obvious reasons. It's none of your business what other threads I post to nor who I am. If this were a forum for everyone to identify themselves then I wouldn't have picked a screen name. You creep everyone out with your "protect digit with your life attitude" and that's what keeps this thread going. And frankly, I don't care who knows you, who met you, who you know, who you met and how many threads you post on. I'm a one-issue person on this forum and play by the rules. Get off your soapbox, will ya. If this thread makes you so unhappy, ban yourself and let us discuss the matters at hand.

Not touchy. I was surprised that you hadn't figured out my gender. I often use s/he or him/her when I have no information about the gender of whom I am referring to.

I guess you don't have a parent's perspective about why I find cookie's agenda so bad.

Let's just say another reason I (and the other parents around here) am careful not to publically post personally identifyable information about our daughters is that most of our daughters wouldn't speak to us if we publically embarassed them here. My daughter knows I post here. She also knows who here knows who she is. She also respects that I do not specifically talk about her teams or anything else personally identifyable about her here. She even checks out the forum from time to time, but does not post. She'd be mortified if I were bragging about a shutout or even worse complaining if the coach yanked her in a game. Hence, I cannot fathom why cookie as a parent would act as she does here on the off chance that someone actually figures out who she is.

Perhaps you've never had the experience of having the only parent in the stands that rings the cowbell when you make a good play? Or yelling at the ref when a penalty is assessed against you?

Re: Brown - Oops! They did it again.

I'm good aren't I; typing with my nose; I must be ambidextrose. Gotta get off that sugar.

Yes, I started the "summer camp" thread a year ago. Thread was widely popular and got a lot of different people identifying camps I wasn't familiar with. In fact, my daughter went to one of those camps that another poster added to the list. It was an excellent camp, just like Digit's and NAHA's (which I also added). Yeah, I thought Digit ran a good camp, that is why I put it there. Does that make be Digit or Cybil? I don't think so.

Someone started this year's camp thread, but it died pretty quickly, unfortunately. Perhaps spending your time finding and updating that thread would be more useful. And it might be good therapy for you, as it seems like you need to get rid of your obsession with the silly idea that I am Digit

You know, a lie goes halfway around the world before the truth puts it's pants on.

Help me; I've falling and I can't get up...........

What I find perhaps the most troubling, reading this message in the context of an Ivy League-related thread, is that this is the EDITED version ...

Oh, well, closing in on 1,000 posts. Any positive results yet?

Any recommendations for the name of the replacement thread?

Any summer camps to recommend?

Any recommendations for the name of the replacement thread??

My motives are publically stated and well understood by the experienced posters on this forum.

You may think I'm here to protect Digit, but I've said several times, I'd do the same for any coach who has a purported parent trying to sabotage him/her on a public forum.

Yes you are one of the "one-issue" posters here and you are entitled to your opinion and your level of participation. Just understand that your degree of participation here (or in any forum for that matter) is what earns your opinions respect from other posters. If you desire to build a more tuned-in audience here (or on any forum), you might participate more broadly, or bring a unique experience or perspective (like the lakersfan who puts up a computer-based statistics based ranking for hockey teams).

I guess you haven't clued into how to win friends and influence people here yet, though.

Re: Brown - Oops! They did it again.

Oh No! Fan007 figured out how the Font size works! uh oh!

No ****! This is awesome. And this is with my hands all tied up and my nose doing the typing.

I don't know how notfromaroundhere does it with her nose so bent out of shape.

Where I come from you wouldn't be allowed anywhere near boy's youth hockey....

Or actually I hope the next thread will be...

Re: Brown - Oops! They did it again.

I guess we can't argue being new to this sight. We don't know the best way to make virtual friends or persuade members of online forums.

But back here in real life, it's usually quality not quantity that wins people over. And someone who has a great deal of knowledge in one specific area is usually seen as being someone capable of providing respectable opinions concerning that specific area.

We aren't talking about college coaching or coaching in the women's hockey world. We're talking about the coaches at Brown.
