Brown Hockey 2016-17: The Importance of Being Ernst

Re: Brown Hockey 2016-17: The Importance of Being Ernst

Turk, speaking of Brown and the AHL, I was at the TU last night. Interesting to see Bobby Farnham and Nick Lappin on opposing teams.
....not to mention Lappin’s 2 goals, especially the GWG with 1min. left.

Re: Brown Hockey 2016-17: The Importance of Being Ernst

Matt Lorito went against his former teammate Dennis Robertson tonight. BTW, Dennis starts for Charlotte now; it looks like since Ulf Samuelson came in as coach his playing time has increased greatly.

Many moons ago, in the initial post on the Brown Hockey 2016-17 thread, kdiff77 wrote "Apologies to whoever asked me not to use a pun for the next thread. Couldn't resist!"

As the time for moving to a Brown Hockey 2017-18 thread approaches, speaking for myself, I implore kdiff77 to refrain from installing still another pun for the upcoming season's message title. There may be those who disagree, but I think less wordplay and more creativity has merit at this critical point in our program's future.

P.S. I was not the one who contacted kdiff77 a year ago on this matter, but I am now submitting a similar request.

Puns are all we have to smile about at this point!

Jokes aside, does anyone have ideas for the new thread name? It's hard to thread the needle between optimism and realism.

Re: Brown Hockey 2016-17: The Importance of Being Ernst

How about just - "Brown Hockey 17-18: Ever True". This upcoming season is one where the team needs support - fans, alumns, and most importantly the Brown AD and administration. Let's be true to Brown hockey's traditions and its past great teams.

Re: Brown Hockey 2016-17: The Importance of Being Ernst

Watched a CNBC interview with Bill Belichick and I quote "good players cannot overcome bad coaching...its impossible ". Come on Hayes do your job and save face for the men's hockey team.

Re: Brown Hockey 2016-17: The Importance of Being Ernst

Any word on next year's schedule?

Single game at UVM in early December, and Maine at home around New Years. Other than that, still waiting for 7 more games. Although I'd assume one of those would be filled with the Mayor's Cup vs. Providence...

Re: Brown Hockey 2016-17: The Importance of Being Ernst

Another puzzle piece: PC released its schedule yesterday, and the Mayor's Cup will be held on 1/3 (a Wednesday) at Schneider. A bummer for those of us who don't live locally. Although...after last year's debacle and PC's projected top-5 status for next year, I'm not sure I'm too excited about the prospect of playing them!

Re: Brown Hockey 2016-17: The Importance of Being Ernst

Harry Z and the Quest for the Stanley Cup. Played a lot in the opening rounds, but sparingly in Western Finals. Hopefully, he will be Brown's first hockey alum to play in the Stanley Cup Finals. Don't want to jinx anything, but would be great for brown Hockey if he were to bring the Cup to Meehan.

Re: Brown Hockey 2016-17: The Importance of Being Ernst

Congratulations to Bill Corrigan. Long overdue recognition for his contributions to Brown hockey.

"Brown Athletics Appreciation Awards are presented to individuals or groups from within the University or outside the University who go above and beyond in support of its athletic teams. This year's recipients are Bill Corrigan '58, a charter member of the Brown Hockey Association in 1961 and its former Executive Director and Treasurer, and Kim Roskiewicz, the Assistant to the President at Brown University."

Award given at Senior Appreciation program.
