Brown Hockey 2014-2015 - Onward and Upward

Re: Brown Hockey 2014-2015 - Onward and Upward

Hoping for a change of that pattern with RPI this weekend. I don't know when the last time other than the playoffs that we took 4 points from RPI in the regular season. If Brown plays as it did against H last Saturday, a win against RPI and as well Union can be accomplished.

Re: Brown Hockey 2014-2015 - Onward and Upward

Team is on a roll. After giving up an early goal, Brown controlled the rest of the game. RPI was frustrated by Brown's trap blocking of shots. Brown had quality shots and could have had at least 3 more goals.and Everyone played well and Brendan got good minutes from all of his lines. Seemed like he had a lot of short shifts. Matt Harlow and Joe Prescott were the unsung heroes tonight.

On to Union!!

Re: Brown Hockey 2014-2015 - Onward and Upward

Last night was the first time the opposing team has scored first and Brown did not lose. I think the mental toughness the team showed after that early goal is the reason they also picked up their first win streak of the season.

They are riding their best 4 game stretch of the season at 2-1-1. If the team can continue to stay strong when they face adversity they will be competitive. If they can find a way to play 60 minutes of hockey a game, they will surprise a few more teams before this year is over.

When was the last time we swept the Capital District on the road?

Pretty good run we're on right now! Starting to feel like the team is finally clicking, which bodes well for the playoffs. Maybe we have a run in us!

We were talking about this at the game. last time we swept RPI was 1995-1996. Not sure about a CD sweep.

Ernst was amazing. 36 saves and only a few of them were easy ones. He was challenged all night and had some spectacular saves. The other story is the Dmen blocked at least a dozen shots.

Fast paced game compared to RPI last night. Brown played a physical game when U tried to do the same. U's Vasarru(sp) tried to be the tough guy and got frustrated when Brown never backed down.Pryzbek was solid in the physical game. Joey D's goal was a real beauty. Brown hit the pipe at least 3 times.

3 wins in a row now and I can see this team winning 3 of the next 4.

I told you Ernst was for real. I thought he was very solid when we saw him and I am not surprised he has emerged the way he has. Congrats to Brown. Big sweep this weekend. Tigers looked tough too. They played hard against us and we didn't look great all weekend. Next week should be interesting all around the league.

Looking back, I think it was SLU where Ernst gained confidence in his own play. Now that he is playing consistently has really nurtured it. The more I think about his play last night he was all over the ice in front of him, always aware of where the puck was/was going. The Tu story this morning mentioned his "robbery" and that it truly was. Borelli reborn!!

Got 6 - Brown v SLU in Placid?

The last time Bruno emerged from Houston Field House with a victory was on January 2, 2004 (1-0); and then Brown went over to Achilles Rink the following night (1/3/04) and beat Union, 4-1, for a road weekend sweep.

Brown victories this weekend were dedicated to USCHO ECAC columnist Nate Owen.

Just took a look at the standings for the first time in months. It looks like we're pretty much locked into the 11 or 12 seed (barring a miraculous winning streak and an epic collapse by RPI and/or Union).

We might be a tough out in the playoffs, though, the way we've been playing recently. Especially if we get Harvard, who has been essentially free-falling for a month due to injuries and Teddy Donato being a pretty bad coach. If we can get a 6 vs 11 matchup with Harvard, Clarkson, or Cornell, I like our chances. If we get stuck with Yale, Colgate, or Dartmouth, we're probably toast.

I agree with your analysis except I think we have a good chance against Colgate. In November we played Colgate tough, losing on a breakaway when a Brown defender slipped. Colgate, like H, is also falling. Last 4 games will give a strong indication of how we will do in the playoffs. Q will be a really good indicator.

3-4 points this weekend? If Ernst continues his play and the frosh line keeps improving, a real possibility.

I'm hoping we can at least beat Princeton- though, they've been playing pretty well recently too. QU in Hamden is always a death trap for us. 3-4 points would be near-miraculous (but not impossible!).
