Re: BRING OUT YOUR DEAD (Part Whatever)

Benoît B. Mandelbrot, inventor, or discoverer, of the Mandelbrot fractal set. My apologies if this has been posted already. I am having some trouble scanning with the new style.

I was told there would be no math.
But after a quick Wiki read, fractals are cool, I guess.

Pearl, rarely seen.

Usually I agree with you but not this time-Amos' wife was Ruby and his daughter was Arabella. I think I had almost every episode committed to memory at one time. (My favorite was when Andy was courting a French girl and the Kingfish offerred to teach him French-of course for a price!!)

Re: BRING OUT YOUR DEAD (Part Whatever)

"Repo Man" references get bonus points? We're getting old. :-(

Elsewhere on the page people are talking about Laurel & Hardy and having Amos & Andy trivia, and you think it's references to "Repo Man" make you look old?

Those are ironic retro-nostalgia. At least I hope they are -- Laurel and Hardy made their stuff in the 30's.

An honest to gosh senior moment: Was thinking Ruby, typed Pearl. Duh. "Do the name Ruby Begonia. . ."

"Take the bum away."

Ah, the 50's. Faith Domergue was also in "This Island Earth."

A big part of me is still living in the 50's-Really wish TVLand would get their act together and show those shows instead of the newer stuff they seem to dwell on. AMC was at one time a great station-then they went more modern and added commercials and worst of all-cut the moves for sex and violence and went to crap. TCM shows the movies in their original format and the way they should be seen.

You're excused-we all have those episodes. Took me forever to remember Algonquin J. Calhoun before.

I saw her in "Cult of the Cobra," which had the special effects you'd expect in a 200 level Cornell film class project. BTW, there WAS no '56 version of Catwoman, just wanted to make that clear.

Gabby on radio. "Take the bum away" was the best Calhoun moment. Full throated defense of Kingfish on some matter or another. Then the judge informs the lawyer that he might face sanctions for defending a guilty man. Pause. "Take the bum away." I don't know how many times they did that bit on the show, but it was funny every time.

There were allegedly 78 episode. I have 56 of them but all on Beta tape from back in the 80's when the only VCRs were Beta format. My favorite is the Viva La France Episode. I sure wish i could find them all on DVD-I have looked for years.

AMC was outstanding for a while. They had a great host whose name escapes me, and they produced the Rupert Holmes-written "Remember WENN," which was brilliant.

Re: BRING OUT YOUR DEAD (Part Whatever)

I'm used to AMC showing movies from 2008 as "classics," but TCM has been different. Maybe they just owned the rights and figured what the hey.

AMC changed their name to "American Movie Channel" so they could show more drek.
