My brother's favorite player growing up. I used to work with a guy here in Phoenix who was a neighbor of Harmon's. He said Harmon was a really nice guy. Sad to hear.

And I woke up to the Harmon news and now there's the Boogie tragedy. I'm a big crybaby, so I'm having a hard time holding it together right now. :(

Word is that the family is donating his brain to science, to concussion research. He did have a history of that.

The Jays called him out of retirement in 2000 to take personal charge of the Roy Halladay reclamation project in the minors after Halladay's earned-run average ballooned to 10.64.

Was out of town for the weekend. Heard about Boogaard late-ish on Saturday.

Still shocked by it. As odd as it is to say it, I hope it was something that no one could have seen coming. For some reason, these sorts of things are a lot easier to swallow when you think that there's nothing anyone could have done about it. (And, selfishly, because I don't want hockey to get a bad rap for it)

I'll be sure to visit and spend some time at the statue and the glove next time I'm at Target Field.
