Re: Bring Out Your Dead (Part Whatever v2.0)

I totally missed that news. I loved the Brigadier. What a great character. I know Tennant was a huge fan of him and wanted to do a story with him. I was kind of hoping Matt Smith would've gotten a chance to do an episode with him. He will be missed.

Another favorite line from the episode "Robot", "Just for once I would like to meet an alien menace that isn't immune to bullets."

those old UNIT stories with Pertwee's Doctor were great; I loved Benton, Yates, Jo, Bessie and the Master. Especially when the UNIT soldiers were methodically offed by paper mache bullet proof aliens. The goofier the better...

This line from a story about Mandi back in January still haunts me.

The Schwartz family broke down weeping, and typical Mandi, she apologized to her father for not getting better.

:(

TSN Story

Saskatchewan hockey player Mandi Schwartz has lost her battle with leukemia.

The 23-year-old from Wilcox, Sask., died Sunday after two years of fighting the disease, according to the St. Louis Blues.

Schwartz played forward for the Yale Bulldogs and also attended Canadian women's team camps.

Her younger brother Jaden was drafted 14th overall by the Blues last year and played for Canada at this year's world junior championship in Buffalo, N.Y.

"From the entire St. Louis Blues organization, our thoughts and prayers are with the Schwartz family during this difficult time," Blues president John Davidson said in a statement.

Both Jaden and another brother Rylan play hockey for Colorado College in the NCAA.

Director Sidney Lumet-pretty strong resume of films-saw the Verdict several times and always thought it was one of his best and one of Paul Newman's best also.

No doubt. On the other hand, a resume that includes "12 Angry Men," (even though it was originally a TV production) tends to crowd out everything else. It's one of those films where big chunks of dialogue are part of our common culture.

Juror #7: You a Yankee fan?
Juror #5: No, Baltimore.
Juror #7: Baltimore? That's like being hit in the head with a crow bar once a day.

With a superb all star cast.

This was posted in the pro wrestling thread, but I figured I'd put it here too: independent wrestler/manager "Sweet & Sour" Larry Sweeney was found dead today...he was 29. He'd been struggling with bipolar disorder and had a nervous breakdown back in 2009. A report I read says that he apparently hung himself from a ring post at a wrestling school he was working at.

Jerry Lawson, creator of the first cartridge-based video game console, passed away this weekend.
