Re: Bring Out Your Dead (Part Whatever v2.0)

Sad to hear. :(

"I just want to tell you both, good luck, we're all counting on you."

Re: Bring Out Your Dead (Part Whatever v2.0)

The life of everyone on board depends upon just one thing: finding someone back there who can not only fly this plane, but who didn't have fish for dinner.

Re: Bring Out Your Dead (Part Whatever v2.0)

Little known fact but on the DVD version-he tested and almost won the part of Messala in Ben Hur. Long before most of his comedic roles.

Re: Bring Out Your Dead (Part Whatever v2.0)

1956 - when he was a "serious" actor! ;)

As Jim Slotek writes, Forbidden Planet was actually based on Shakespeare's "The Tempest."

Re: Bring Out Your Dead (Part Whatever v2.0)

Gil McDougald-age 82-Darn, I still remember him hitting the ball that struck Herb Score in the eye and effectively ended his pitching career.

Re: Bring Out Your Dead (Part Whatever v2.0)

Just how old are you guys?! ;):D

I try not to think about it but I finished at RPI in 1966. In the old days McDougald was a fixture in the Yankee lineup and the lineup remained the same for years in the 50's. The only change each game was who was penciled in as the pitcher.

Yup-perhaps in a fight with Gene Fullmer?

Yeah. Fullmer was about as subtle as an M1-A1 and about as lethal. Basilio was taken to Wesley hospital (now Northwestern) in Chicago and my old man dropped in on him to chat. As a cardio/thoracic surgeon he didn't have much to contribute.

As a kid, I saw Basilio fight in a place called St. Nick's Arena in Brooklyn NY. My dad snuck me in as i was underage to see the fights. Basilio fought a 10 rounder there-never saw so much blood again until medical school. Both his and his opponent's.
