Brexit - Should I stay or should I go??

Re: Brexit - Should I stay or should I go??

I'm hoping once England leaves the EU the Scots will decide to vote for independence so they can rejoin the EU and I can retire to Glasgow. Or England can decide to revoke Article 50. Whichever.

I'm rooting for Northern Ireland rejoining Ireland, because it would be ****ing hilarious if that is what eventually caused it to happen.

FYI, you’re unlikely to qualify for permanent residency if you’re retired. You’ll have to leave every 6 months or something

My grandfather was born in Scotland so I can stay :)

There are income requirements and you’ll have to carry private health insurance, right? You basically need to be completely self-sufficient. If you didn’t work there, you aren’t eligible for their healthcare system (except emergency care)

That's under current UK law. During the previous independence movement it was suggested that they would extend citizenship to children and grandchildren of Scots sans income requirements. Don't know about healthcare. Of course, the independence movement didn't succeed at that point. It was a incredibly hypocritical of the English to beg the Scots not to leave because "We're stronger together!" then turn around a year later and drag Scotland out of the EU. Hopefully Scotland does the sensible thing and leaves the UK after Brexit. After independence I'll see where I stand.

The Independent Group has been officially recognized as a full political party and will be known as Change UK. The election launch was today. Issue #1: Remaining in the EU.

Are these pro-EU refugees from both Labour and Tory?

Why didn't the Liberal Democrats use this issue to finally become a real boy? Seems ready made.

There are MPs who were part of both parties and a whole lot of people who haven't held public office who are running.

I think the Liberal Democrats tried to make it an issue but couldn't get any traction in the media.

Scotland First Minister Nicola Sturgeon is pushing for a second vote for Scottish independence in 2021, regardless of how Brexit ultimately turns out.
