Brexit 2: Happy Halloween

Re: Brexit 2: Happy Halloween

Warning sent.

The Conservatives are set to win an overall majority of 86 in the general election, according to an exit poll for the BBC, ITV and Sky News.

The survey taken at UK polling stations suggests the Tories will get 368 MPs - 50 more than at the 2017 election - when all the results have been counted.

Labour would get 191, the Lib Dems 13, the Brexit Party none and the SNP 55.

No matter how obviously terrible a mistake an electorate makes, they can always double down. Yankees take note.

Hmmm. That doesn’t track with what I was seeing, especially vis-a-vis the youth voting. Either the Exit polls are horribly wrong and Britain is truly f-ed.

Re: Brexit 2: Happy Halloween

Though if it holds true I expect Corbyn to be in a pillory by noon and Scotland in full revolt (if they aren’t already).

I highly doubt the Beeb is getting it wrong. Maybe the youth didnt vote the way people thought they would. Or maybe the Brits are just morons...

This ought to be the end of Corbyn, but it sounds like he has a grasp on the party that the Clintons wished they had.

It's probably not his fault if they're losing seats in areas that rely upon huge amounts of public services and were traditionally Labour strongholds because of Brexit.

Basically, the UK is now more like the US where the WWC is voting against their own interests because of "economic anxiety".

Re: Brexit 2: Happy Halloween

Loved the Seth Meyers bit the other night about how it's really bad for Trump when even BoJo was part of the group laughing at him, because BoJo would be the butt of other world leaders' jokes if Trump didn't exist. :D

Re: Brexit 2: Happy Halloween

Outside of England the Tories are getting clobbered with the Scottish National Party looking to win 55 of 59 seats and the Nationalist parties in Northern Ireland looking to win the majority of seats there.

So the English will get Brexit but the Union will probably crumble.

Hate the immigrants that much?

The polish immigrant fear caught on like fire up there. I spent time in a small farm town on the Roman wall and you’d hear some fun stuff in the pub. And to stereotype, the people up there tended to be less educated than the southern folk. But I noticed a lot of similarites between the brits and Americans and how they react.

Well that similarity goes across the political spectrum because there are plenty of Brits on Twitter having the same “who tf are these people?!?” reaction that many of us had post-Trump.

Edit: Though it’s honestly worse because a) some national institutions like the NHS are under serious threat and b) you have Tories on TV saying “We’re the party of the working class!”
