Bracketology

Re: Bracketology

What people have to remember is that the committee is looking to benefit the top seeds. That is their overarching concern. They can move lower seeded teams for seat sales, but they have shown that isn't their primary concern. In their minds the perfect Frozen Four would have the top four seeds advancing.

Also bear in mind that the NC$$ is guaranteed its money; the venues are responsible for selling tickets. It's not the job of the committee to make the tournament better for the fans or the venue.

Re: Bracketology

The day "Ferris State" gets a spot ahead of any WCHA will be a travesty to the game of hockey. Otherwise, pretty accurate so far.
Did you just assume that Ferris State is a higher seed because they're farther left on the chart?

Check the PWR. Denver is the 1 seed.

I think he meant that Ferris State should not be taking the place of any WCHA participant at all. I could be wrong.

On another note, the committee should do whatever is necessary to achieve an all-Bulldog regional. Ferris, tUMD, Yale, and Mississippi State could be the fourth for all I care. :D

Re: Bracketology

Right. The WCHA did such a great job in last year's tournament.

Well, if previous success is going to be a factor:

30 of 62 (48%) men's ice hockey championships have been won by teams that are currently in the WCHA. Therefore, the WCHA should get 48% of the slots in the tournament, or 8 teams. ;)

His ideal tournament is:

Minnesota-Duluth
Denver
Wisconsin
St. Cloud State
Colorado College
North Dakota
Minnesota
Alaska-Anchorage
Minnesota State
Michigan Tech
AIC
UConn
Providence
Dartmouth
Bowling Green
Alabama-Huntsville

I just meant I think Ferris State is grossly overrated. Don't look too much into it.

There should be two EZAC teams. Clarkson would make a good addition.

Also, an all-Falcon regional would be awesome. BGSU, Air Force, Bentley, and ?

I love your hard-on hating the WCHA. The WCHA is the best conference again this year. I'm sure you'll be nowhere to be seen when DU, Wisconsin and UMD do well in the NCAA's this year. But if UND and CC lose in the first round, you'll be all over it. Meanwhile the ECAC will suck like usual, but you'll ignore that.

Re: Bracketology

Today's bracketology:

Code:
[b]Albany Worcester Fort Wayne	St. Paul[/b]
Wisconsin	Ferris Miami Denver
North Dakota	Duluth St Cloud	Boston College
Bemidji State	Union Michigan St	Colorado College
New Hampshire	UMass Vermont	AHA Champ

Last in: UMass, UNH, Vermont
Last out: Cornell, Maine

Dropped out: Maine, Yale
Replaced by: UMass, UNH/BC

For comparison, last year's Bracketology at this point in the season:

Code:
[b]Manchester	Bridgeport Grand Rapids	Minneapolis[/b]
BU Vermont Notre Dame	Cornell
Miami Northeastern Denver Michigan
New Hampshire	Yale Princeton	Minnesota
CHA Champ	Ohio State AHA Champ	Duluth

Things can change...

Re: Bracketology

I like the bracket UMass would be in at this point. Still very early, but def. winnable. We need to remember that Bemidji may end up being a lock for the tournament, but a team like Robert Morris could win the CHA playoff title, and therefore two CHA teams could get in along with the AHA winner, which would really change a lot of things.

I would assume if Robert Morris/Huntsville/Niagara were to win the CHA, that they would be the only CHA team in, because any losses to conference teams the rest of the way for BSU will hit their Pairwise ranking like a ton of bricks. They were 4th going into Friday's game, lost to Niagara, and fell to a tie for 11th. They won tonight, and moved back to #9, may change when there are other finals. They probably have to win out in the CHA this season to probably assure they get in no matter what happens in the CHA conference tourney. They have a pair with UMD this weekend that could greatly affect the Pairwise, i believe that is their 2nd to last series of non-conference, the other vs Neb-Omaha

I'm too lazy to really do the math but I think if you look at the conference affiliation when the NC was won, you'd see that the WCHA had about 60% of the titles. I know there is more, but many of the michigan titles came when they were in the WCHA.

I'd vote to add MTU to the tourney, they deserve a chance!

That would be the ugliest, most lop-sided game in recent Tournament history.

Then again, if they were matched up against SCSU, it could be a real boon to Tech's program.

I think they'd keep it close with the second or third teams in from the AHA or CHA.

Re: Bracketology

The new bracketology is a mess.

Code:
[b]Albany Worcester	Fort Wayne St. Paul[/b]
Duluth Wisconsin	Miami Denver
St. Cloud Ferris	Bemidji Union
UMass North Dakota	BC CC
Michigan St Vermont	AHA Champ New Hampshire

Re: Bracketology

This would be my best guess right now, switching Amherst and CC to still avoid WCHA first rounds even though they have 6 in as of now.

Midwest
1 Miami vs 16 Atlantic Hockey (Air Force/RIT)
8 Bemidji State vs 9 Boston College

West
2 Denver vs 15 New Hampshire
7 Union vs 11 Colorado College

East
3 Minnesota Duluth vs 14 Michigan State
6 St Cloud State vs 10 UMass Amherst

Northeast
4 Wisconsin vs 13 Vermont
5 Ferris State vs 12 North Dakota
