Bowdoin ?

Re: Bowdoin ?

Agreed, the length of time a team has been a participating member should have no bearing on being selected as an at-large participant in the DIII tourney (unless there is some probationary obligation that must be first fulfilled for them even to be considered). If this was the sole reason Adrian did not get in last year, then the system sucks (worse than to the extent most think it sucks already).

Paying dues in general is an overrated concept. Unless of course you are the one coasting having already paid them ;)

lol....overrated until your life is on the line.........then you want the person/organization who has " paid his dues".......its not all about sports in everyday life..........

Sorry - wasn't aware that these kids were out there risking and saving lives.

Time for a paradigm shift now....

lol..anything worth it salt is worth putting in ya dues, ....unless you have been handed everything your life, then ya just plain lucky.............

No, I want the person/organization who is most physically and mentally able to save my life. I don't give a rat's azz if they have paid their dues.

With that said, this is a hockey forum, which is about hockey. There is no place for a supposed non-biased selection committee to treat a team any differently on something so arbitrary as paying their dues.

Re: Bowdoin ?

I was talking to four SNC fans on Friday night and the subject of Adrian came up and they all echoed the same thought, e.g. "Adrian is the real deal and not to be taken lightly."

Okay cool. There is always room for better DIII hockey

But I do agree that this constant harping about how Adrian got hosed two years ago is, as others have said, beating a dead horse. That was then...this is now. Get over it.

However, these four SNC fans did add that they had heard that Adrian had been invited to the Primelink next November. I had heard that too. I am sure NU, MIDD and PSU would welcome them. So what's the deal? Has that been confirmed?

They did get invited out east for a holiday tourny, but it wasn't the biggie in November.

They're going to Northfield for the TA... I'm debating. I might even skip the Cardinal Classic for this one (ok, probably not, but I'll try to have an internet feed so I can listen to WDEV. )

Then who is "The fourth for Bridge" in the Primelink? And why listen on the radio to the TA when you can watch on videostream? Very likely NU will do all home games again free of charge. Thanks for the heads up. :)

Re: Bowdoin ?

"putting in time to earn anything is beyond stupid"......WOW dont know where to start on that 1....i.e I have been a NYC fireman for 19yrs, and before your trusted to do many of the positions in either the engine or the truck, you have to , fill in the blank here........ PUT IN TIME......ugh Matt re-think that 1 for sure......Its a good theory, and have saved many a life and property.....

I wasn't referring to putting in time to gain experience. That's obviously the only way experience can be obtained with anything. I was referring to the concept that "putting in time" should somehow be relevant to what is supposedly an objective process.

Feel free to keep going on about the firefighting if it makes you feel any better, though.

According to a post in the "2010-2011 Schedules" thread, St. John's is the fourth team.

Re: Bowdoin ?

I understood that, but the other poster....

sorry I missed you last weekend... I never got past Wiseguys it seems!

Ha, yeah. I missed a lot of people. I did meet Saints17 and Crosby, so that was nice, but unfortunately that was it. I did see you down in the NU section though...same jersey you wore in Point in 1999 or 2000 I think :)

Did see Old Rook on his way into the arena on Saturday but unfortunately didn't have time to introduce myself.

Ah well, with as young as NU is...find a competent replacement for Klingensmith and we could be seeing you in Minneapolis next year :)

Re: Bowdoin ?

The ratio of teams is the biggest crock in the process. The best teams should be in the big dance and it should not matter that East has more teams. Some of the teams out East should not be even considered a real d-3 team.

This ratio is the main problem with the way the d-3 tournament is run.

Yeah, cause Northland, Finlandia and Concordia (Wi) are something to brag about.
