BouncyBall 2013/2014

Re: BouncyBall 2013/2014

He didn't bid $2 billion to turn around and lose a bunch of money moving them from LA to Seattle.

Re: BouncyBall 2013/2014

So Donald Stirling is found the be mentally incapacitated.

Does (or should) that impact the NBA's ban and fine they placed on him? If they guy is mentally incapacitated and can't make decisions about selling his team and such, it seems like that diminished mental state would be at least somewhat of a mitigating factor in how the NBA came down on him. Not that I expect the NBA to back track one inch, but an argument could be made that you don't hold the guy responsible in the same way as someone with fully functional mental capabilities.

Re: BouncyBall 2013/2014

Sterling says he is NOT mentally incompetent and is suing the league for a billion dollars. I don't care about the money, I just hope the lawsuit goes ahead so his lawyers get to depose the 29 other owners, Silver, Stern and others under oath. Every dirty, little secret will come out because Sterling knows where all the bodies are buried. Donaghy will just be a warm up act. I bet one of two things happen: The NBA settles out of court(while admitting no fault) to make Sterling go away, or Sterling dies before the lawsuit gets to the good parts. Of course it will officially be "natural causes" but that would be a conspiracy theory to top them all.

Re: BouncyBall 2013/2014

I'm pretty sure he is mentally incompetent since he is basically suing himself now.

Also, the NBA is taking a week off before the Finals? Then to make it worse they're waiting three days between games twice, going Thurs-Sunday so they don't play on Friday and Saturday night, but then schedule Game 7 for a Friday.

I'd mock them, but hockey started a week early and squandered the lead time to start 1 game earlier, so I've don't want to mock them anymore

Re: BouncyBall 2013/2014

I'm not mocking them as much as I'm astounded at their blatant moves to not play on a Friday, but then they're (possibly) going to play the game that would be a ratings lock on a Friday.

And you are correct, the NHL should be ashamed they squaundered their week lead. People say the NBA is boring because the season lasts too long, but the NHL season is going to end around the same time and it started a month earlier, and its playoffs started a week earlier.

Surely people could find better reasons, like the lack of parity for why it's boring. This Finals series is going to be great, but there's not much of a point in watching the early rounds. I guessed the semifinals and finals matchups before the playoffs started and I watched probably a combined hour of NBA regular season.

Re: BouncyBall 2013/2014

Wolves "hire" Flip to coach.
Not surprised no one wanted the job.

Re: BouncyBall 2013/2014

Wolves have a decent team. Although if they lose Love they will be starting over again.

I've never liked the way they were managed tho.

Without Love, no they are not decent, and Love is as good as gone.

Re: BouncyBall 2013/2014

Under 80's NBA rules, then yes. Under current NBA rules, no, because the Heat would win on all the free throws they'd get from this new foul in modern rules called "playing defense."

Under 80s rules, all of LeBron and D-Wade's flopping would get them hurt. Guys like Bill Laimbeer would have a field day...

A game between today's Heat and the Pistons of the late 80s would be almost enough to make me root for Laimbeer or Rick Mahorn.
