BouncyBall 2013/2014

Re: BouncyBall 2013/2014

Minnesota wins the NIT.

I hope some fans don't look down on it. Syracuse got to the semis in 2002 and won the NCAA in 03. Part of it was having Carmelo Anthony and Gerry McNamara, but the others had tournament experience. That NIT run paved the way for that NCAA title.

It worked for Iowa this year:rolleyes:

Re: BouncyBall 2013/2014

There's value in going that far in the NIT and in winning it. The Gophers will be better for it.

Seem to be headed in the right direction...

Re: BouncyBall 2013/2014

One of the fanciful games to play with an NCAA bracket is to imagine that each game is settled as a contest between their mascots.

So Gators vs Huskies, well, much as I like UConn, I can't see how the latter can beat the former.

Wildcats vs Badgers. Hmm....I could see it going either way. The cat would be faster and deal lots of cuts, but not knock out the badger. but if the cat slips, or gets tired, or the badger gets lucky, once the badger has the wildcat in its grip, it's all over for the feline.

Re: BouncyBall 2013/2014

Gotta say the Teamcast - where when watching it on an alternate channel you get "hometown" coverage - is pretty cool.

Larivee wouldn't be my first choice, but it's still pretty cool.

Re: BouncyBall 2013/2014

Dang... I believed fully that the Badgers would win that.

Guess the question of whether individual talent is better than an actual team was answered in the way that I hoped it wouldn't be.

Full sour grapes mode - Kentucky basically played individual street ball the whole game, taking it to the hole 95% of the time and looking for calls. Total garbage, but it worked, so credit due. Too bad (hopefully) this will be vacated when Cal is investigated again.

Okay end of sour grapes. Life goes on.

Good run by the Badgers and we bring almost everyone back next year as white boys don't leave early.

Re: BouncyBall 2013/2014

Well, our pool bracket is done. We had one person pick UConn going to the finals, and we had one person pick Wisconsin to win it all. No one picked the winner.

Obama's bracket was 18th out of 55. He has been pretty consistent, generally in the 2nd quartile every year.

Matt Lepay was saying during the second half that Kentucky was just throwing the ball up on the glass and letting its all Americans go up and get it for lay ups, tip ins, and fouls.

Re: BouncyBall 2013/2014

Joe Dumars should be fired tonight. I don't care if they hire 89 year old Jack McCloskey to be GM again. Dumars built an absolute abortion of a team.

Sadly, Joe Dumars has not been fired yet. Come the end of the season though, after the Pistons miss the playoffs again, he'll be sh-tcanned.

As for tonight, a UConn RA doesn't want his residents to get too excited, reminding them that "I'm still your RA for another month." If that happened while I was in college, we would have given that RA hell for the next month.

Re: BouncyBall 2013/2014

Only watched the final few minutes, but appears that Kentucky still had no game other than take it to the hole.

Glad to see an actual team win it as opposed to a collection of talent - at least as much as I care about this with my team not in it.

I would have spot fired him (edit: yes, itg, but you can't act like that). The whole thing is just ****ing condescending. If he has legit concern for students who have an exam the next day or something that's one thing. Who would want to deal with such a jerk?

also nice to see that being able to make free throws matters. UConn was 10 for 10 last night and something like 87% for the tournament.

Kentucky missed 11 free throws last night....and lost by 6 points.
