Bottom Feeders 2017-18

Re: Bottom Feeders 2017-18

Knowing that Western got sent to Bad Axe, we sent them via back roads and disabled their bus GPS.

Teams have started to arrive at Ouray, Elba, and Mt Washington, and are already complaining about everything.

What possible complaint could anyone have about Mount Washington? Other than the 7.6-mile, 4800 vertical foot hike up the Auto Road? Keep those hockey bags light! Drop the puck!

Hey Miss Committee Chair - remind me what accommodations were arranged for the Ouray teams? Obviously we can't afford to have them living it up at the luxury hot spring resort there.

Ah yes, winter camping. Perfect.

Do we have loose schedules set for the opening round? Or are we keeping it secret for now.

I'm getting word that if I hike up Palmyra Peak tomorrow, I might be able to see smoke signals over the ridge, assuming someone is sending them.

We're gonna start the 2-3 games at about 3 PM Eastern tomorrow, and the 1-4 games at about 6 ET. No time to clear the rink. If it goes into OT, well, you'll just have to wait.

So THAT was what was in the sack hanging from the tree!

BTW, was it bare meat or bear meet?

The local elder that collected stuff for the Sack said he couldn't say what was in the Sack. From what I saw, it's assorted pig parts (no choice cuts) and turkey bacon.

The committee also set up base camp for teams at Mt Washington. They too got a sack of mystery meat. Every sack a surprise!

Re: Bottom Feeders 2017-18

Ouray??? how the heck did that get chosen as a playoff site. they have hot springs, for gods sake. beautiful scenery. the committee dropped their standards on this one. I cry foul. any team playing in Ouray should automatically be disqualified.

Re: Bottom Feeders 2017-18

Perfect accommodations.

Current Ouray weather forecast: Periods of rain and snow showers before 3pm, then scattered snow showers. Some thunder is also possible. High near 39. Southwest wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%.

Access to the venue via Red Mountain Pass currently requires chains or 4WD.

This is exactly why I recommended Ouray to the Committee and why I am so very proud to see that everything is coming together perfectly...

Re: Bottom Feeders 2017-18

Ree Drummond served everyone a plate of her Knockwurst Nightmare Special at the West Regional, and I'm seeing the smoke signals come up already.

Sloppy conditions at Ouray. Reports of dead pucks, and there was a bird that crapped in the middle of the rink. Despite all that, Brown leads UNH 2-1 with about 10:03 remaining in period 2. Will keep you posted as this score updates.

In Elba, the cosmic lights are going and and we're playing with a vulcanized rubber puck. No one can get a shot off. So with time winding down in the first, Niagara and LSSU are tied at 0. Wait, someone just threw a bottle of MD 20/20 on the rink. The refs will allow it.

At Mt Washington, teeth are chattering. Rico Blasi is yelling **** this. Someone fired up the weather machine and it's a heavy snow... Marty the cat left a "present" in the north end of the rink.

Nothing out of Bad Axe yet, but Western got lost and just arrived.

Re: Bottom Feeders 2017-18

We have a winner in the first game in Ouray. No one saw Brown's coach throw a puck in the net with about 3 minutes in regulation, so it counted, and Brown wins 3-1. UNH advances to the regional final.

In Elba, Damon Whitten goes off to find a bottle of MD 20/20. An LSSU player somehow potted one as time expired at the end of regulation and LSSU wins 1-0. Niagara advances to regional final.

Re: Bottom Feeders 2017-18

Any idea who won the later game in Ouray? Since RPI only wins one game per month (and we have our one win already this month), I feel confident that we can have a rematch with UNH.
