Boston University Terriers 2026 Offseason Thread

I don’t think my sarcastic point came across. The article said he had a tough second half of the season, implying he played in the first half of the season. Which he didn’t. So the article was linda poorly written as was my response. I’ll see myself out.

Psyched to see that the Michigan State series is not the weekend in October that I thought it was. I can do November.

not surprised Xavier Villeneuve dropped to day 2- that had been predicted by a few draft pundits, but he won't be there long. the other undersized defenseman in this range, Ryan Lin, made it to 21st, and he's considered to have the higher floor. Villeneuve is a high ceiling boom or bust guy. maybe devils or canes would be interested?
I noticed that trend also with Villeneuve dropping to round 2 in many people's final mocks. A lot of concern with his defense. Where have we heard that before? Though the concerns seem more strong here than with the Hutsons.

PSA to Terrier fans: He is going to be fun to watch, but he may also be a turnover machine, at least early.

Not sure if you're responding to me, Scarlet. I was doubling down on the sarcasm.

Brady Knowling top rated NA goalie … 17th goalie taken. Did he kick a puppy or something?
I’ve seen in print that he has some holes to fill in his game. Something to the effect that he doesn’t always read the trajectory and speed of shots correctly which is a judgement thing. Gets beat clean way too much. Seems like a fairly important skill for a high end goalie. Hopefully the BU coaching can help improve his game. Doesn’t sound exactly sound like a promising #1. He’ll probably get his chance and we’ll see how it goes.

ntdp has been kinda brutal with goalies since augustine. most of them have needed extra time, which is what he will get with saginaw. people were surprised NHL central scouting named him top NA goalie. ridiculous amount of goalies went all day too and they still left plenty on the board- William Lacelle didn't get taken. drafting goalies is just weird overall

hopefully Saginaw fills a few of those holes before he gets to college. goalie development is a fickle thing overall but theres a lot of promise there.

if you want to see a spectacular Knowling performance, check out the CHL/NTDP Challenge game, he stole that one.

this is the 4th straight year the sharks have drafted a Terrier- Svoboda, Celebrini, Wang, and now Knowling.

list of terriers taken:

round 1- Caleb Malhotra VAN, Tynan Lawrence STL
round 2- Xavier Villeneuve CHI, Niklas Aaram-Olsen VAN
round 3- Luke Schairer STL, Rian Chudzinski ANA
round 4- Brady Knowling SJS
round 7- Shawn Carrier COL

could be missing someone but i think thats the list

Too funny that Villeneuve went to the Blackhawks. With the Greenway trade (Don't get me started on that move.) they how have SIX former or current Terriers in their system. Give them their own row on the jersey wall.

The only draft-eligible recruit/commit not taken was Braidy Wassilyn who will be back with London next year.
Burnt Boats' new roster projection chart. Still on F slot to fill for next season. Z. Morin is unlikely to ever play for BU. Went undrafted again.

Renewed today. Interesting that the "season ticket card" is now an option.

Grumpy old man rant: I still miss the fun of opening up the envelope with the printed tickets!
Agree…. Pretty sure mookie had shared long ago, but he always kept the sheet intact hoping for a “special purpose”, which was undertaken in 2009 when he took it to the year end FOH banquet (remember when we used to have those 🤔) and had the whole team sign it for him.👍🏾

I remember one year I woke up to find out the pool in my building had closed for the summer which meant summer was over, but later that day I got my tickets in the mail which meant hockey season was coming! I've actually grown to like the cards. Using the ticket option on my phone is a pain. I only use it as a back up.

The cards do work well for sure and all the mobile stuff / app is super convenient (The group i sit with does a lot of swapping of tickets etc).

There was just something satisfying about opening up the large envelope and fresh page of tickets.

Interesting. I wonder how they will do compared to Tsongas? Depending on where one lives that could make it easier or more difficult to get to.

I wonder if there will be Fleet logos on the ice?
Not to sound snarky, but they're the BOSTON Fleet. Now they're in Boston. #Upgrade. 😎

I wonder if Season Ticket holders will get any deals/offers for tix?

For sure - cool to be in the city and what is easier for one person is harder for another depending on where you live.

I just wonder how much fan base / season ticket holders they built up from the Merrimack valley area that may decide that schlepping into Agganis is not worth the effort. (Just as people who lived in Brookline may have not bothered to go up to a game in Lowell).

I can say from experience that the way that traffic has increased over the past couple of years that getting into the city from the North Shore is a PITA.

As to deals - they may not need to make any offers - i think these games have gotten pretty popular and have been reasonably priced. I know the one time we decided to try to go (last minute) there was not much for available tickets.

There's a lot more people who live in the city and immediate suburbs plus the Metrowest and south shore for whom it's easier to get to Agganis than it is to get to Lowell. The games they've played at Agganis to this point were all really, really well attended. I'm sure BU will also benefit from the added revenue.
