Boston University Terriers 2026-2027 season…insert clever title here!

I have nothing to say, just that our thread shouldn't be on Page 2 on game day.

They should win both of these games easily, right? Why do I sense they're going to be 2-1 games with one going into OT. I hope I'm wrong. Putting up a legit 4 spot would be nice.

BU Hockey: Put The Biscuit In The Basket
Turns out you were an optimist!! Though you did get the 2-1 right, just the other way. :(

How come all of these marginal to average goaltenders seem to "play great" against BU?

***I know, it's early. It is still concerning. 0-8 on PP. This team needs a big breakout. 5-6 goal game. Who will step up?

The team is gawd awful prepare yourself for 5 more months of misery. Last year was an appetizer for this year. Vermont totally out played BU from an effort and physical standpoint. Somehow the VT announcer used the word “shocked” to describe the win obviously enamored with the “NHL draft picks”. The defense is a joke and have no puck movers. I will say Wang looked ok but Treathway and Amico woof. The announcer also was overplaying BU’s attack and their goalies performance. They had very few grads A’s and Malhotra choked 2 of them. The only goal was an own goal. The PP was laughable where one VT forward kept 3 BU players bottled up in their own zone . Give me a year in the last 10 that BU was bad I can’t remember but this team is worse than that team. Noringer can go back to whatever public HS he is from he doesn’t belong on a D1 team and take surfer boy fraud Ritchie with you. How can the genes in the Celebrini family go so awry when the Hutsons seemed so intact

ok this one i will firmly dispute- Jacob Oster is not a marginal to average goalie, he was one of the top goalies in the OHL for two seasons in a row who lost his entire freshman season to injury. i legitimately tweeted during the game "unsurprisingly Jacob Oster is a good goalie at the college level" because of course he is. Haoxi Wang played in front of him his draft year, he will absolutely agree on this. i was high on the UVM recruiting class last year largely due to him. if he hadn't gotten injured he could've played at least 12 games, but i wouldn't have been surprised if he took the starting spot and played even more. long time coming for him to make his college debut and it went basically how i guessed it would. he's just a competent goalie. it was very annoying when a team i liked played Oshawa, remained annoying when BU was playing UVM.

tl;dr: terriers actually got beat by a good goalie who lost freshman season to injury

Defense and goaltending looks great but at what point do we go from the forwards are “snakebitten” to maybe not very good?

malhotra and lawrence may develop into scorers but the rest of them i think i’ve seen enough of a sample

I’m not 2nd guessing. i’m first guessing

Maybe he’s a good goalie, but I didn’t see him having to do much. They seemed to have a decent edge in grade A’s. We didn’t seem to generate many dangerous opportunities. Looked a little young last night.

I had hoped this day would never come, but I agree wholeheartedly with Jofa. In the third period I had to check the lineup sheet to see who among Svoboda, Bednarik, Fondrk, Ritchie, Harvey, Norringer, Aaram-Olsen wasn't actually playing. Good for you, Conrad. I guess.
Sure, it's early and I hope they come alive, but I don't see anything to indicate any of the forwards are going to be a consistent threat. Maybe Lawrence, although he looks more like a high energy guy than a particularly skillful finisher. Possibly Malhotra, but I don't see the finish right now and he certainly doesn't have any support.

Would love to hear that Roukounakis and Frechette lit into these 18 draft picks after the game. Heads-out-of-asses sort of "pep talk".

Surely disappointed with the result last night. Obviously not finishing the few chances they had. It’s a fast team trying to play fast, but they aren’t very crisp yet - I think that can come with time.

Positives - Yegorov seems good again here to start the season. I think he can keep a higher save % this year playing like this. That will help. Made some 5 bell saves. Screened on the first and Vermont got a bounce right to the stick on the second. They are putting in the effort and hustling to the puck.

A developing team - I’m trying to have some patience (but not too much- have to win some games in the first half to stay in it).

Go get em tonight

Hard to diss Pando given his first three season’s results, but why do other top D-1 programs appear to compete harder right from season get-go while BU struggles early every season? This pattern goes back to David Quinn, continued through Albi and now Jay. Feels like the same scenario playing on repeat. BC, Michigan, & UMD look like they are playing at a whole ‘ nother level. We look disorganized and the power play is ineffective. What do we do - or what don’t we do - in “camp” that translates to confusion and lack of crisp play? I get all teams in the HE are competitive, but Vermont? Really? Why do we struggle early every year?
