I watched a bunch, but was not glued to the TV....

Did the 4th line play much? Or at all? We looked gassed the last 10 min ...

Re: Boston University season thread - strike 3! last man there turn out the lights.

I dont think it is fair to say that about all, or even most of the players. Certainly it is fair to say about the handful of them who have gotten into trouble, and maybe a couple of others, but I think there are plenty who do.

As I've mentioned before in the BU threads, I really question how much vetting and screening we are doing on these recruits, or if we are just blindly going after the most talented kids we can get without regarding some of the intangibles to try to "keep up with the Joneses".... and if that is the case shame on the coaching staff. We would have a lot fewer of these types of issues if we were starting off with the right kids in the first place.

We tend to forget who does most of the recruiting and runs most of the practices ... the assistants. Since Quinn left the problems, especially with D-men have gone up. I don't agree that Clendening and Noonan were/are bad apples, but they sure lost control after great 1st years. The All-american D-men tradition has gone out the window. JackPa is totally in the bubble, but who thinks that Buddy Powers is in same league with Jerry's assistants as far as recruiting and practice coaching? Big key to Jerry's success is his assistants have been with him at BC for a long time. You won't see a big time asst at BU until JackPa steps down. And you know he won't until he at least reaches 900.

And that's scary, because that's not happening this year...(unless they run the table and get to the Hockey East Championship game)

I can't help but notice that for all the horrible hockey this team has played since the break with 7 conference games remaining this team is a mere 2 points out of 1st place. Just saying..

Re: Boston University season thread - strike 3! last man there turn out the lights.

Not much, they got probably 7 or 8 mins of ice time at most. Virtually none in the 3rd.

Not sure how much the 4th line typically skates... but I do fear this could be the big impact of the departures... more shifts for lines 1 and 2 = more gassed at end of game = a good thing for the opponent.

:):D:) (there are your 3!)

Thanks for the assist, my man!

Busy Friday over at BC! 5 more embellishments, 2 more rapes, a senile coach, 2 more beanpot 4th place finishes, and some group sex in the penalty box and BC will be just like BU!

Exactly. But you guys have to relax. These things take time. Heck, it took you 60+ years to catch our national title number!

edit for JD: :p

We still haven't done what the bc2 did to get suspended for the year

So
Mookie is at hockey rinks today and picks up a copy of nehj--- they have an article on New England guys in the central scouting mid terms. 28 ne'ers in the top 200. NONE coming to bu

IMHO this is mostly a fuction of the birth years of our recruits. Last year we had 7 guys drafted (including Collier, and maybe Ballegerion?. And Eichel, Somerby, MacAfee, I believe are all 2014 draft prospects, all of whom should be pretty high, with Eichel looking like a top 5 pick at this point.

Re: Boston University season thread - strike 3! last man there turn out the lights.

Ah, it has nothing to do with when they come to bu. it is a list of guys eligible to drafted this year. (Unless you were trying to say something else...)

Isn't it just that the higher-end kids coming in next year were drafted in 2012? But, yeah, it's definitely a thin class, especially with no Adam Erne.

What recruiting years are we talking about here?

The list is kids draft eligible for 2013 draft. Class has no relation, since kids come/recruited for 18-19-20 yo.

And yes, Erne is top ranked ne'ers from central scouting. (Bc has 3 of top 50).

I've decided the outcome of last night's game will be a turning point and they will play better from here out.

BU Hockey: so you are saying there's a chance?

This was pretty much what I was saying. That few of our recruits are draft eligible on 2013, since many were eligible last year or next year. But I honestly don't know who is actually eligible from BU for 2013. Perhaps Rogie or someone can let us know.
