Re: Boston University Offseason Thread 2: Moving Forward by Booting Forwards

Nice work by the B's to wrap up the colassal choke job by actually rushing out to a 3-0 first period lead before letting it slip away

Go Hawks.

I'm not sure who I dislike more, the Habs, the Flyers or Joe Thornton

Rask is overrated

Should have played Thomas

Not to mention that 1961 was a loooooong time ago.

And, they have the coolest uni's in sports.

And they are original 6.

And Chicago is an awesome city.

Kill the Teal!

This all feels like a "lose/lose/lose/lose" situation to me.... ugh.... I guess I have to cheer for Chicago... or just ignore the whole thing and cheer for the Celtics!

And c'mon, hatred for the Sharks or Flyers before the Habs? I'm disappointed. And Bomber, Hawks are still my backup plan.

EPIC FAIL by the bruins no doubt..... rask may be overrated but thomas sucks dude i hope u realize that

Re: Boston University Offseason Thread 2: Moving Forward by Booting Forwards

Rask had a couple bad games, but he's the only reason we got this far in the first place. Enough of the overrated crap. He had a spectacular season and a spectacular first 9 games of the playoffs. I'll blame everyone else for this collapse before I blame Rask. The offense stopped forechecking and stopped scoring. The defense started getting caught out of position and missing assignments. The power play started standing still. The coaches failed to make the necessary adjustments, both in-game and between games.

As for this collapse's place in history, I put it No. 1. Not only did we blow a 3-0 series lead, but we blew a 3-0 lead in Game 7. No one's ever done that.

This is the most depressed I've ever been as a Boston fan- more depressed than 18-1 and more depressed than Aaron Boone. My dad said the only thing that tops this for him is Buckner. I'm gonna go continue jamming sewing needles into my corneas now.

Re: Boston University Offseason Thread 2: Moving Forward by Booting Forwards

Bruins deserved it. After Game 4 OT loss, there was no heart. Captains, Claude did a terrible job.

I would think 18-1 would sting more, but what do I know. I'm a Giants fan.

This reminds me of BU's choke job against Northern Michigan in the NCAA championship game. BU built a big lead then slowly choked it away before losing in heartbreaking fashion in OT.

Re: Boston University Offseason Thread 2: Moving Forward by Booting Forwards

Your memory is chit then. Both teams built big leads, northern last. Of course their blown lead was forgotten since they won :p

Noreaster is also dumber than a box of rocks. He blows jcarter out of the water.

rask had a solid season and i wasn't criticizing him, merely pointing out that thomas is crap, but u should probably wait another year or two till u crown him as an elite nhl goalie..... blaine lacher anyone????...... or since this is a bu thread, kieran millan anyone????

Re: Boston University Offseason Thread 2: Moving Forward by Booting Forwards

Well, they did carry it over. They just spent all their energy in the first 15 minutes. Honestly, as a Flyers fan, I thought that might be enough, given how effective the Bruins backchecking was in game 3 and the fact that the ice was crap after the 1st with the Celtics having played there last night.

Re: Boston University Offseason Thread 2: Moving Forward by Booting Forwards

I always get a kick out of fans saying a team choked and blew a series or blew a big lead in a game. Is that what people really think or do they just say that to try to take away from their opponent? In some cases, there might be a chokejob going on, but when I see the Miami-BU game, or the Flyers-Bruins, I just see two extremely talented opponents who went out there and took it from the leading team. I mean, honestly, you think the Bruins choked? The Flyers were the most popular pick out of the east by the "experts" during the pre-season and the reason they were 7th was because they were inconsistent during the season. To say the Bruins blew it to a team that has the deepest set of forwards after San Jose seems like whining to me.

Re: Boston University Offseason Thread 2: Moving Forward by Booting Forwards

Flyers had a lot of injuries too: when they got Gagne back and the Bruins lost Krejci...completely changed the series.

I think that was a critical factor. A two player swing in a series that was very very tight. Game 1 was back and forth and had to be decided in OT. Game 2 was a one goal affair. Game 3 was Tuukka's best and Bruin's defense was stifling, and Game 5 was the one blowout, but every other game had such a thin margin of victory that the injury swing played a big role.

No doubt in the playoffs all opponents are very talented. Hard to call this a choke job. What Washington did in the first round might actually be the bigger choke as far as talent coming up short, but history won't remember it that way.

Re: Boston University Offseason Thread 2: Moving Forward by Booting Forwards

Since each game is its own entity, the Flyers were really in control for games 4-6. Game 7 on your home ice and you jump out to a 3-0 lead...and you still can't hang on? That's the bigger problem.

To think the Bruins had a PP in OT of game four...
