Boston University off-season thread (preparing for 16/17).

Re: Boston University off-season thread (preparing for 16/17).

What are the odds that Bob McKenzie brings up the Spitfires before BU when Keller gets picked, despite Clayton's 99% comment? Or at least in the same breath....

Ever since the completely false report about Eichel leaving for the Q after the WJC's I have had a bit of an issue with him (I doubt he falsified the report, but he should have dug a little deeper before going public with something that turned out to have no basis in fact at all).

Was it McKenzie that reported Eichel to the Q? I thought it was some random newspaper guy in Canada.

Re: Boston University off-season thread (preparing for 16/17).

Also, I enjoyed the tweet that showed the list of prior BU draftees (from the media guide). Some swings and misses on that list, just shows how challenging projecting talent can be. Of course, many of them were back in the day of 12 rounds (versus 7 now).

Bryan Lafort
John Preston
Stephen Foster
Andrew Glass
Brett Bennett
Scott Perry

Not all were bad players for BU, just not really NHL material. I know Jeff Kealty was a a big miss being a first-rounder, but good to see him stick with the NHL in other capacities for his career.

I thought McKenzie's name was on it in some fashion, possibly passing on the report without verifying. Or maybe I am confusing the WJC situation with some of the concerning reports before the start of the season. If I am wrong, I take it back....

Could've been reported in different fashions by both. I know there was a reporter from Saint John who'd been harping for weeks that Eichel would sign and said it was basically a done deal.

First round wrap-up with articles and video interviews with draftees and Quinn. SI.com story is a particularly good one.

In the SI article, I really liked hearing how involved Jack Eichel still is with the program. He was only here for one year, but he's continuing to make an impact. On the flip side, Quinn's comment on how there's only one person who could screw this up and you're looking at him was pretty funny. It's funny cuz it's true!! Heh. Though I'm headed to the beach today for the first time this summer, man.....is it October yet???

Great article from Puck Daddy/Yahoo Sports by Ryan Lambert

But moreover, both Fabbro and Bellows said that what they liked about the entire BU recruiting process is the honesty the coaching staff takes when discussing why kids should go there. There's no whitewashing, no propagandizing. They can count on the program to sell itself.

“You know what, basically they were just up-front and honest with me,” Fabbro said. “Albie and Quinn and Young, they were all so awesome with me, giving me time and space to make my decision and kind of think things through. There's a reason why all those players are going there, because obviously Coach Quinn is doing something right. I wanted to be a part of that.”

Bellows echoed that sentiment: “He's honest with you. He's blunt with you. He tells you what he likes, what he's gonna want from you, and what he expects.”

Re: Boston University off-season thread (preparing for 16/17).

Quinn and company must not have gotten Lucia`s memo about the key to winning NC is a bunch of overlooked chronically injured 21 year old freshmen!:p:D

The theme of this year's season: "Check your egos at the door..."

Should be interesting when guys don't get PP time...

Re: Boston University off-season thread (preparing for 16/17).

2 shifts
10 guys

Hope that's enough

Maybe 11:
Harper-JFK-Carpenter
Bellows-Keller-Greenway (The KGB Line)
Hickey-Fabbro
Krys/Fortunato-McAvoy

If anyone else earns/deserves PP time, good for them. No problems here.

That looks scary good. Hope they all show up in September. :)

I think rogie's gonna have a hard time keeping it in his pants this year

I'm definitely feeling a lot better about them all showing up now. With the quotes from Bellows and Fabbro about the coaching staff, there appears to be no doubt they are coming. As far as Keller goes, it seems more and more like he is just trying to be nice to Windsor at this point. Heck, if he's the one that helped convince all these other guys to come (don't forget Oettinger who is a big piece as well, just not getting the press since he isn't draft-eligible until next year), I just don't see him changing his mind.

I'll definitely be trying to get to more games this season.
