McAvoy all over the scoresheet, with 3 penalties to go along with his 1g, 1a.

Keller's goal was nice, don't know how he looked overall

I thought Gryzelcyk held his own. Looked pretty comfortable out there.

Eichel also had a sweet assist on Buffalo's second goal.

Shattenkirk played pretty well in the Rangers' opener, picking up an assist and putting some power into the power play (which the Av’s goalie brilliantly stymied all night). But he was burned on the first Colorado goal, not getting good position on the scorer. The Players Tribune published Shatty's article describing his pro path from Colorado-to St. Louis-to D.C.-to New York. https://www.theplayerstribune.com/kevin-shattenkirk-rangers-fire-emoji/

The [failing ;):D] New York Times did a nice piece on McAvoy’s debut and his route to the NHL, quoting Quinn, Greenway and Cloonan (mis-identified as Ryan Clooney) https://www.nytimes.com/2017/10/06/sports/hockey/boston-bruins-charlie-mcavoy.html?_r=0

As far as Max's first game, I'll just remind the old-timers on here how poor Michel Larocque looked during his first game (didn't the Freep even have a scathing headline about it?).
I think you are remembering Michel's second game, not his first. In his first game Michel made 26 saves on 30 shots and gave up the winning goal 3:53 into overtime.

Must be. Was that first game a road game, and maybe his poor game was the first home game?

From what I saw of Qunnipiac, I'd expect your talent to win today. Probably something like 3-1.

I'm not optimistic either but for Quinnipiac to win this game they would need to win a low scoring game with its defense and goaltending and get some puck luck leading to a goal or 2.

Very interesting how BU is playing significantly worse hockey after a week of practice than they were with no practice.

Disappointing. I’m at Fenway watching the Sox choke away the season and it would be nice to enjoy one team playing well. Watching the game on my phone. Not liking what I’m seeing. Remember last time BU played there and BU got called for a million penalties? This year they’re getting more power plays and doing nothing with them.

That’s gotta sting for the Q.

Re: Boston University - 2017-2018 season - thread numero uno

That power play remains worrisome. But I’m glad to see them firing shots more freely.

Re: Boston University - 2017-2018 season - thread numero uno

Whew. I thought Quinnipiac dominated most of that OT. Big win. Now I can relax. And hope the Red Sox don’t cough up this lead they’re clinging to.

Sub-par performance or not, a tough win on the road against a good team is always good. I'll take it. These early season OOC wins can be a difference maker in the Pairwise come selection time.

I watched the game on ESPN3, and aside from the overtime, thought BU carried the play. Need to figure out how to turn all the cycling into scoring opportunities. Surprised to read comments that BU didn't play well.

I didn't see the game I was only going by what people were saying so I just assumed BU wasn't playing their best. Either way any win on the road against a tough team is a good win.
