If you believe in the strength of hockey east, at least you're not grouped in with another league opponent. I always prefer seeing non league opponents by now.

mookie's garmin just told him it is a 19 1/2 hr drive to xcel :(

seriously. you guys got the shaft with pc in your bracket. mookie has felt bc and pc were the top 2 teams overall for some time now. throw umlol and nu in there and our boys got off lucky.

I was wondering when the last time we played in the twin cities area for an NCAA game. I fondly remember the 1994 semi-final 4-1 win over the Gophers since I was able to make the trip (the next game is wiped from memory). But I completely forgot that BU played out there in 2012 against the Gophers again (7-3 loss).

And that game is pretty blocked in mine. (Got to meet Scarlet and mookie, tho', so not all bad.)

Yup. And BU got arguably the "best" draw they could given that had to go West anyway. Not underestimating anyone (and BU is not playing well - we'll see what the two week layoff does)...but the reality is if we play well, being in this bracket is probably the best chance to advance. If we don't, if wouldn't matter who we played.

We got the best regional because the XCel has mini donuts and the other arenas do not.

plus between games you can get your hand marked and go out for a smoke (and then head to tom reid's for a beer and watch other games).

And give the ticket to a friend so he can get in for free for the other game. Or so I'm told. That's the rumor. Maybe. ;)

Same as when UML and BC were in Worcester two years ago, epic game, shame they were both in that bracket.

I was there as well. Loved when we scored while the Gopher fans were doing their M-I-N-N-E-S-O-T-A chant. Good times.

Steve Thornton did the honors on that one. Mike Pomichter with a pair.

LSSU's first win that tourney was the OT win against Northeastern. Then OT against Michigan. Then OT against Harvard. Then, not so much...

And if replay existed then, NU would have won. They was robbed.

For Scarlet:

It appears that an 8th grade certificate is all that's required to be a Boston Globe sports editor these days. Yesterday, they printed that NU's last loss was January 2nd to BC. (How hard is that to check?) and today in Kevin Paul DuPont's article nobody can count up to six (# of Hockey East teams in the tournament.)

This is the globe quote
"Northeastern was one of eight New England teams selected Sunday for the four NCAA regionals. Five of those eight play in Hockey East, which also placed Notre Dame among the tournament’s 16 teams." The meaning is 5 Hockey East teams from New England plus Notre Dame made the NCAA tournament. 5 + 1 is 6 so the globe can count to 6.
