Re: Boston University 2015-16 thread part 3 - The Postseason

So, BU scores 3 goals in 2 games @ND, NU pumps home 9 goals in 2 games at ND.

BC with a shutout of BU in BP Final, NU hits the net 5 times last night.

BU scores 2 goals last weekend at UML. Gotta love NU tonight (from a betting perspective.)

No doubt BU's offense is in a funk. If I'm DQ, I m going to tell #5 - you're ending your college career soon, go out, have fun, and wheel and deal to create offense.

Re: Boston University 2015-16 thread part 3 - The Postseason

We whined about it because it was true. Ben Dreith basically admitted years later that it was a "homer" call. Hamilton's momentum takes him into Stabler as he's falling and they call roughing the passer, essentially giving them the game. And don't forget on the drive before that, Russ Francis was about to catch a fourth down pass deep in Raider's territory that would have iced the game. Phil Villipiano grabbed BOTH of his arms and the ball bounced harmlessly off Francis's chest. NO CALL. So, see? There...we're still whining and you still have to listen. :)

love Raider talk. Yes, the big gaffe was the non call on Villapiano, Pats would have a first down driving in Raider territory , (wasnt deep in Oakland territory, was at the 40 or so) that's why i could never understand the *****ing about Sugar Ray's sledgehammer into Snake's face, THAT was clearly roughing the QB!

After just doing a bit of playing around on CHN's YATC, it looks like BU's best chance at snagging a #8 seed reside in Northeastern beating UML and Harvard beating Quinnipiac.

You may be right, because I am not going to spend a lot of time with this, but I quickly checked and it look like we are still 9th. This is who I picked:
Quinnipiac over Harvard
North Dakota over Denver
Minnesota over Michigan
Northeastern over UML

I still get a three-way tie for 7th...now I don't know how the tiebreakers work out, but I assume it's the order the teams were listed, which was:
Denver
UML
BU

If that's not correct, show me what combinations you used...

Well, as I wrote before, I had Havard over Quinnipiac. So that is a difference and it looks like a must to get BU to an 8 seed.

Here is one route to a 7 seed:

Atlantic Hockey Championship: Robert Morris def. RIT
Big Ten Championship: Minnesota def. Michigan
ECAC Championship: Harvard def. Quinnipiac
Hockey East Championship: Northeastern def. Mass.-Lowell
NCHC Championship: St. Cloud State def. Minnesota-Duluth
NCHC Consolation: North Dakota def. Denver
WCHA Championship: Minnesota State def. Ferris State

1 St. Cloud State 58 .6001 1 31-8-1 .7875
2 North Dakota 58 .5978 2 31-6-3 .8125
3 Quinnipiac 58 .5917 3 28-4-7 .8077
4 Providence 56 .5818 4 27-6-4 .7838
5 Boston College 55 .5786 5 26-7-5 .7500
6 Denver 53 .5719 6 23-10-5 .6711
7 Boston University 52 .5578 10 21-12-5 .6184
8 Harvard 51 .5630 7 20-9-4 .6667
9 Michigan 51 .5622 8 23-8-5 .7083
10 Mass.-Lowell 51 .5589 9 24-9-5 .6974

Basically, I switched to Minnesota beating Michigan. (I had Michigan winning in my 8 seed scenario.)

So we want Harvard and Northeastern to win. Minnesota winning on top of those results MAY put BU at 7. No idea what effect AHA and WCHA might have.

Harvard over QU is the BIG one, along with UML losing to NU. That knocks HU's RPI up enough that it flips their pair with UML in HU's favor, thus bumping UML to the 9 spot and us to the 8, and likely us staying east. There are other wacko scenarios where UML wins and/or HU loses where the rankings end up all over the place and leaves the committee with some difficult choices.

Minny has to win to get to the tournament, so that's good. All reasonable possibilities, but I think Harvard over Quinnipiac will be tough. At least we can watch it on Comcast...

It will be a tough matchup for HU, but at least we're not sitting here hoping for St. Lawrence over QU.

Good point! :)

I'm hoping because there is just no way I can get to the Midwest due to work commitments...

Re: Boston University 2015-16 thread part 3 - The Postseason

I don't know how many people are flipping back and forth to the Big 10 Championship but it is shocking how few people are there. Entire bottom sections with basically the first row full then very scattered above that. This is in the heart of MN with UMN in the title game. I knew many weren't thrilled with the Big 10 but this is embarrassing.

Re: Boston University 2015-16 thread part 3 - The Postseason

Quinnipiac leading Harvard 3-1 midway in the third. If that holds up BU is #9. If Harvard comes back to win, BU is #8.
