I'm not sure who FBK is, but the only person who may not have been on the BU roster this season is Cloonan, as he was accelerated from 2016-17 after Letunov was not admitted, but Cloonan might have been added anyway once the NCAA handed down the suspension to Roberto.
Thanks to Chikrod for carrying my water this year now I seem like a moderate. Random thoughts: Can't wait until BU gets a 3 or 4 yr stud goalie again , I assume Oettinger (sp?) is that guy . Been a long stretch since we didn't worry about goaltending game to game . Millan had a good Frosh season up until the NCAAs but that was it since Curry left. As you know I never liked OConnor nor will I forgive him. Maguire very shaky on some nights not dependable . Lane fizzled out versus Hohmann finishing strong in their senior years. What the heck happened to Hickey very disappointing . Olsson was just hurt this year I guess but thought he was going to be a stud . Roberto loss hurt, they basically lost a full #3 line with him Olsson and Greer. Cloonan SB good in the long run not worried will be around for 4. For those who think BU will come out retooled after a lousy HE tournament and 2 weeks off. History says no they usually continue the trend in a one and done appearance .
What part of Hickey's game disappoints you? I agree he has had some off nights this year but he has one less goal in 6 less games played compared to last year. Are you mad he doesn't have more secondary assists? Why did you think Olsson would be a stud? His last three years of juniors he had 6, 16, and 7 points. That doesn't scream stud to me. He is a fourth liner and a very good one at that when he is healthy but injuries have been his issue. What history are you talking about? Providence last year or Yale in 2013?
In fairness, the history he was talking about were some fairly recent teams who limped into the NCAA tournament and lost in the first round. 2005, 2007, and 2012 come to mind. While he's not wrong that those teams did have poor ends of the season and weren't competitive in their tournament games, the comparison isn't all that valid as not a single player on the current roster played for those teams and not a single member of the coaching staff outside of Mike Geragosian is on the bench.
A couple of tidbits:
* DQ was on the 2005 and 2007 staff.
* In the 3 years you mentioned, BU won HE QFs in 3 games (and in OT in 2007 and 2012) and lost in the semis (2005 and 2007 were one-sided; 2012 semi vs. Maine was very winnable).
* The 2005 team was not quite ready for prime time. IMO that team overachieved a bit given the modest preseason expectations. NoDak steamrolled both BU and BC that weekend in Worcester.
* The 2007 team had similar lack of depth issues at forward, but was one of the best defensive teams in recent BU history, largely thanks to John Curry. IMO that team wore down by the end of the season b/c of the lack of depth, scoring, and Curry was playing hurt (hip).
* We all know the in-season turmoil the 2012 team dealt with. I don't think any BU fan can deny the cumulative impact those situations ultimately had on the team's ability to peak during the postseason.

Okay, I'm out of the loop....what is the CIT? Is it the NIT with a new name? Is it the "third" tier tournament after NCAA and NIT?

technically 4th. CBI gets a better draw.
The CIT is the participation trophy of postseason tourneys (or the New Mexico Bowl of FBS bowl games).
Hey Mr two posts don't shoot your load out of the gate slow down. You seem to have a comprehension problem, why would I be talking about last year when I said "after a lousy HE tournament and 2 weeks off". Learn your history then you can start coming on here guns a blazing. And "Stats boy" I judge by my what my eyes tell me not a stat sheet, I will stick with my opinions.
speaking of participation trophies..... Mookie heard the igles made modern collegiate athletics history this year. Something was done that hadn't been seen since ww2 (that's the one that followed the big one for sterlippo, fivehole, and dover).
