I don't know which players, but Kevin Paul Dupont of the Globe retweeted Brian Kelly, the assistant AD

Fans. Not players. Fans.

IMO this tweet here reinforces a reference earlier in this thread about a portion of BU's fan base having amnesia. I think every BU fan agrees the team laid an egg on Saturday and are disappointed the team was swept, but some of the reactions I've read here and elsewhere are a bit over the top and myopic given the circumstances.

just now getting around to watching some highlights. not sure how BU was playing at the time but even if poorly, those first two goals are killers. tough enough playing lowell but down 2-0, good luck. 3rd goal too. just a tough night for maguire.

go ahead goal from game one looked a lot like Tuch's OT winner in the Pot.

My Blackhawks lost 5-0 last night. (To a team that plays a similar style as Lowell, now that I think about it.) I guess it's time to fire Coach Q and bring in some new leadership.

:)

First two were total softies. They skated all right prior to the first one being scored but you could see that zapped the life out of them when that went in and from there it was a runaway train of disastrous play.

I was surprised on Saturday night by several people on the Freep live blog who were under the assumption that a team has to win their conference tournament in order to make the NCAA tournament. It's not the '70s anymore. It was like they had never heard of the pairwise rankings.

Seriously!! And so many different ones asking, apparently not reading or paying attention to the fact that the question had already been asked and answered.

I'm expecting to get lambasted by some for saying this, but IMO there's a segment of the BU fan base that hasn't still adapted to the changes around BU hockey in recent years as well as to the college hockey landscape as a whole. I'm not saying one has to agree with how things have changed, but I feel paying some attention to the current landscape is usually helpful.

Fact is they don't come play with us anymore. Federal League may have been the last DFP writer to come here and learn about the terriors:(

To be fair, I wouldn't expect most of the fan base to regularly read up on polls and what they mean, including PWR, RPI (KRACH if anyone even looks at that), much less the Freep, which is students (right?).

I personally consider it a healthy obsession. :D

You're spot on. And I would take it a step further, judging by some of the fans that I've sat near over the past couple of seasons, it's astonishing how much hockey they've all watched and yet do not understand the first thing about how the game is played. Constant complaining during the game about the most minute and irrelevant details. Basically yelling at BU for giving up a shot of any kind or allowing the opposition to clear their own zone. If they give up a shot it's because they're not covering their man, if the opposition clears their zone it's because we're not forechecking.:confused::confused: One fan near me on Friday night kept yelling every time we crossed the blue line in any capacity "GO TO THE FREAKING NET AND SHOOT!!!!!!" The level of stupidity became unbearable.

I'm not talking about the kids running the blog. They knew. They patiently answered the question each time it was asked by someone wanting to know if being swept kept us out of the NCAAs.

Are you sure that wasn't just Ahti talking from the ice? Think about it

1. With some fans, there's no concept of losing a game not because you didn't play well, but because the opposition played better or you didn't have much luck or were the victim of a bad bounce or two. A loss automatically translates to a heartless effort. Certainly, this wasn't the case this past Saturday night.

2. It's irritating, at least to me, when BU is on the PP, that as soon as they setup, the cries of "Just shoot" start. There's no appreciation that when you "just shoot", you end up skating to your own net to collect the puck to start all over again.

See...this is what I'm talking about when I say that everyone conveniently "changes the narrative." All of a sudden it's "just one bad game." Really? Speaking of amnesia, did everyone forget that we struggled the weekend before against one of the worst teams in recent memory? Scarlet said "Why are you comparing us to UVM?" OK...I'll compare us to UMass. How's that?

My point was that this is three out of the last four games that have been, let's say, less than ideal. That's cause for concern, no matter how much people want to dismiss it. Teams should be PEAKING at this time of year, not struggling. To say that it's "No big deal," and "Move on" is sticking your head in the sand, IMO. To deflect the argument with statements detailing how it doesn't really affect our PWR ranking and "we'd be in the same position even if we had swept Lowell" is MISSING THE POINT (or, I feel INTENTIONALLY distracting people from the real issue - something that has become an art these days...).

Just like the title of the previous thread, "Nothing to see here, move on." Well, there IS something to see (and discuss) here, and it's worrisome.

Re: Boston University 2015-16 thread part 3 - The Postseason

Should be sent down to Rockford

Sarcasm mocking me for making such a big issue out of what you would claim is "one bad game." The problem is, it has been three out of the last four games that have been "bad." Not a good way to be heading into the tournament. But...that's right...I'm an alarmist. The situation is not as dire as I make it seem...I'm sure we will roll through the tournament and blow out North Dakota 10-0 in the championship game...acquiring at last what slipped away last year...
