Re: Boston University 2015-16 thread part 3 - The Postseason

Shifting to a little hockey talk
Quinn mentioned putting Bobo with Lane/Oksanen on 2nd line
Might be a good idea since line has not scored 5 0n 5 since Greenway went first line
Hoping attendance for this round is low everywhere but concerned UConn with first home playoff might do okay
BU attendance could be really awful with no requirement to buy tickets- Used to be included in season ticket package
Have to get rid of every team making playoffs

Why are you hoping attendance is low everywhere and concerned that UConn may draw well?

Re: Boston University 2015-16 thread part 3 - The Postseason

Mentioned in there is that Jordan's brother JD "hopes" to play at BU next year. Hopes? He's not committed to us is he?

No. He remains one of the few uncommiteds on the U18s. I thought he looked good on the Prospects game back in the late fall. Perhaps with the various unknowns for the future on D (in terms of potential early departures), he is hoping to be a late add (whether for next season or beyond). I have no inside info, but it seems like a possible scenario that if we lose any d unexpectedly, he could step in.

Is he good? I would think a good player wouldn't wait around just to see if he gets a chance to maybe play at BU.

No inside knowledge, but CSS Midterm rankings had him likely going in the 6th or 7th round. Players drafted that late frequently play one more year of juniors after their draft year before going to college so that is certainly a possibility.

I believe DLG is hoping that poor attendance will lead to Hockey East dropping the first round games. Merrimack's game last night had an attendance of 2088, down from their regular season average of 2373.

DLG's post made me update my Hockey East attendance spreadsheet. Sheet one has the 215-16 regular season attendance averages on it, while sheet two has the averages from late December, basically the first semester (2015-16s) and the end of the regular season (2015-16r). BU's attendance improved, as did BC's, UConn's. UML's, Notre Dame's and Providence's. BC actually turned a drop from 2014-15 into a gain. I will updated it with final figures after next weekend.

JD Greenway was ranked #57 among N. Americans in the midterms. He plays a defense-first game, but knows how to pick his spots to get involved in the offense. He had a few nice rushes deep into the offensive zone against ASU. With Krys and Fabbro arriving and only one or two defensemen leaving, it would be difficult to bring JD aboard next year. Playing a year in junior to buff up his game and grades would be a good scenario for BU, which needs a second defenseman for the 2017 class, especially one with size, since Somerby and Hickey will be gone.

Hoping the Terriers rebound from the loss to ND with a big win tonight. I may have to make the trek in tomorrow, hopefully to see them sweep the Minutemen.

The level of play over both games at ND was solid, save a few bad shifts in game two. If they sustain that level of play this weekend, it will end quickly and easily.

The way they played it should have dropped. Hooray for simple math.

Exactly- ridiculous that every team makes it
1100 at Northeastern
1752 at BU
2200 at Merrimack
4,000 at UConn- buzz over 1st playoff home game

I think this is smallest crowd ever at Agannis

Mookie's just a little bit closer to seeing Jasmine next weekend.

There is no way on god's green earth there were 1700 persons in the seats at HAA. This count must've included persons who walked past HAA between 7:00 and 10:00.

Re: Boston University 2015-16 thread part 3 - The Postseason

A win is a win....the shot totals certainly point to BU playing better than UMass, but I wasn't there.

I'll be there tonight with son #2 in tow. Hoping for more than 2 goals this time.
