Re: Boston University 2012 Offseason

I had forgotten that Moran was a local kid. We once had another "Mike" from Marshfield who Parker considers one if his all time best captains, and is on most Terrier fans shortlist as Parker's successor.

Who happens to be that "mike's nephew..."

Re: Boston University 2012 Offseason

I suppose the team among other thousands of students are heading back or have arrived at BU. Did all the returning players come back? All the freshman show up? Any developments or no start of the year drama (hopefully)

Check page 17. A poster not named Hokydad says there will be a surprising early departure announced within the next few days.

Oh no not again? Is this poster credible? Who can it be now leaving? Or who didn't show up? Noonan decide to jump? Nieto wooed by SJ? Really, enough of this! Who would bail out on the team during move in week?

I'll say the same thing I said after the original post...don't lose sleep over it (assuming it's the person I heard about too).

Darn it!

Against my better judgement I just renewed my season tickets. Maybe it's the fact the the nights are crisp or because the days are getting shorter but it was out of my control. Maybe I'm a glutton for punishment? Who knows but I just picked up the phone and did it.

Looking forward to another season...

Welcome back. Despite the annoyances of Agganis the games are still a pretty good evening out.

Come on defkit, spill your beans and throw it out there

Based on what you've allegedly heard, my guess would be someone like Cisse.

I was told the information in confidence, so I won't share what I heard. I just wanted to help stop any fellow Terrier fans from having a coronary....we've been through a lot in the past 9 months or so. :D

So a walk on not playing?

Re: Boston University 2012 Offseason

I'm kinda curious why there is no additional discussion on the fact that this information (which, in the interest of full disclosure, I was also told in confidence) came from a poster whose first post was to pull a Hokydad.

I actually meant to say something about that. Wouldn't be surprise if Hoky made a new account.

Re: Boston University 2012 Offseason

So Courtnall signed with the Bruins according to FL on twitter

I wonder how much losing his A factored in. Speaking of which when was the last time a C or A returned to the team the following year without a letter? Rogie, Sean, FL, anyone?

He didn't necessarily lose his A. They hadn't picked assistants for this season yet.

It's not a player vote like C's though, it's a coaches decision. Unlike the Arizona Cardinals BU's coaches already have made up their mind.

Probably a minor factor compared to his expiring draft rights though.

Re: Boston University 2012 Offseason

So now that is it out.....I think this is the right move for him, because:
- he clearly was not going to make it to the big-time as a skill-player
- given his size and style of play, he may have a shot at doing so as an enforcer-type (the name never hurts in getting picked among the many available for this role)
- if you want to be an enforcer, college hockey is not the place for you
- one more year of school is short enough that he will likely come back to complete it at some point

I think the impact on BU is very minimal. He improved offensively, but still had only 7 points last year. Given how many forwards this team has, I think those can be replaced. And I have a vague memory that he took at least one, if not multiple poor penalties in the playoffs last year (though one may have been an undeserved major).

Now that the latest mystery is resolved, let's start looking at what this team could look like when the puck drops on 10/13. With the addition of Oksanen, there are 7 Ds (plus Ronan and Rosen for emergencies). So who is the likely odd man out and what combinations might we see? MacGregor seems the most likely to be out of the lineup more often than not. That would mean going with four left-shot Ds. My own speculation:

Escobedo Privitera
Grzelcyk Ruikka
Noonan Oksanen

So, yeah, Mike Eruzione is speaking at the Republican National Convention tonight.
