Re: Boston University 2011-2012 Season Thread: Part III: Now What?

On a different subject, can someone please post the Bu sections for the Beanpot? Didnt get seats in the lottery (thought I would be traveling) and wanted to avoid the Harvard section.

*snerk*

The beanpot brings out the best in us all doesn't it?

Re: Boston University 2011-2012 Season Thread: Part III: Now What?

The Harvard section is a mixture of the Harvard band and BU BC and Northeastern fans
I've gotten my tickets for the beanpot a couple of times through Harvard

The Harvard section is a bunch of empty seats, whose ticket holders are actually sitting in their school's respective section, creating one giant black (yellow-ish) hole in the Garden, where no one actually wants to be. It's like the opposite of Disneyland.

Maybe I'll try a slightly different angle. Could someone please post some of the BU section numbers so I can sit with BU fans?

Re: Boston University 2011-2012 Season Thread: Part III: Now What?

Pretty sure you're looking for 304-307? Or is it 314-317? One of those. It's in a corner, I believe on the near left side when watching on tv. It's the same end as NU, same side as Harvard.

Best suggestion: when you get to the arena, sit with BU fans. Ushers seem to be lax when you're not right next to NU fans

I'm in loge 6 and got my tickets through BU... my assumption would be the BU sections would be from Loge 1-Loge 6, and then the corresponding balcony sections above those... balcony 301-308. I don't know this for sure, I'm just guessing based on where my tickets are and how they have typically quartered up the arena.

Boston Hockey Blog tweeting that Cisse will be a scratch on Friday night for performance (not discipline) reasons.

So, who will dress? Might we actually see Moscatel or Ronan? Lines should be interesting on Friday night.

Re: Boston University 2011-2012 Season Thread: Part III: Now What?

I'm in Loge 5, and I'm a season ticket holder @ BU.

Re: Boston University 2011-2012 Season Thread: Part III: Now What?

Did anyone else find it a little strange that Parker did not include the ref(s) in his apology?
I don't find it odd that he is not sorry. I do find it odd that he didn't say he was sorry. Not surprised he is not being disciplined by Hockey East. But disappointed.

Re: Boston University 2011-2012 Season Thread: Part III: Now What?

Only on the internet.

No cuz, i could utter the same opinion in a face to face conversation. it's still an opinion.

Bertagna's idea of punishment is exactly what happened...make Jackie issue a meaningless apology. Sorry if that opinion upsets anyone

Since when was berating a ref grounds for discipline? I mean, maybe in the NHL you'd see a coach get fined if he goes way over the line, but seeing as how you just don't see coaches fined in this league, did you think he should be suspended or something? Seems like they made him apologize for his behavior, which is about the most discipline you would see for something as simple as swearing at a ref (happens all the freakin time) and getting ejected.

I'm going to be honest, I'm disappointed the BU fans haven't pointed out the hilarious irony of the Maine fanbase's apparent rage all week long over something as simple as a coach berating a ref given who used to coach up in Orono.

Re: Boston University 2011-2012 Season Thread: Part III: Now What?

Nick, berating a ref and berating a ref to the point of being throw out of a game are a little different in my eyes, but at the most I think you'd be looking at a one game suspension. Is Hockey East even allowed to levy fines?

Who could forget BC-Maine at the Centrum in 2001...

Meh, they haven't brought their feigned outrage over here. That said, I would think he would've been fined or sanctioned in some way if he had berated them in the postgame press conference, that seems to generally be one of the main boundaries for getting sanctioned, due to the PR problems it creates. In this case, he stayed on the bench, and while he probably used a lot of expletives that were audible to the people sitting near the bench, I couldn't hear a thing a few sections over, and I honestly didn't even notice anything out of a usual rant at an official. It was within the bounds of the boards, and thus is generally out of the realm of a PR problem. I didn't even know until after the game that he'd been "thrown out", especially considering he came out for the postgame (postseries in Hoky's world) handshakes. It's like a manager getting thrown out of a baseball game for arguing from the dugout, he's very unlikely to get suspended by MLB since he didn't make any kind of unnecessary and out of the ordinary scene that would present a public relations problem. Coaches arguing with officials is accepted and commonplace in all levels of sports that don't involve 12 year olds. He was sticking up for his players and showing them that he was going to fight for them, and didn't, in my opinion, embarrass the program or league in any way. I'm glad he showed that passion and hopefully the player fed off it this week in practice, and will continue to feed off it this weekend and going forward.

We also don't know what exactly he said. As I said above, he didn't make any kind of visual scene, so to anyone not in earshot of him, he was just yelling at a ref, not out of the ordinary for anyone. We don't know if Bunyon just had a short fuse by that point and threw him out the first time Parker said fruck you.

Not sure. Never heard of a fine which is why I just assumed in my last post that wasn't possible. So at worst a suspension, which is way too much for something like this IMO, and at best, forcing him to issue an apology. I think the punishment fits the crime here. I think the league could also issue a letter of reprimand to the coach but other than putting it in his personnel file at his athletic department I'm not sure what point that would make.

As BB noted, he steered clear of not commenting on the officiating after the game to the press, which is probably a bigger no-no than anything he actually did.

Now if Jack breaks NCAA rules and then tries to cover it up like someone else ... well that is a different story, now isn't it?

Apparently, the Maine fans.

And to add to the fun, apparently Bunyon is reffing tonight's BU game! Wahoo!

From the second he started in on the ref, it was obvious he would be asked to leave (Felix Unger'd)
