Re: Boston University 2010 Offseason I - The Year after the Year after effect

Of course you can give someone their jersey, not a violation

Now that I see all this interest though I will keep it and sell it on Ebay when he makes his first all-star team....

That and Paul Kariya's game worn from the Lake Superior title game..... Should have kicked that out after the goal vs NJ in cup finals. Peaked right there

100% wrong. You may want to check the facts before you do. You PAID for the jersey, therefore you are not merely giving him a jersey. If he doesn't pay for for it, it's a violation. Trust me on this one. Considering you admitted on this thread you paid that much for the intention of giving it to him, it'll be funny to watch when it hits the fan.

Re: Boston University 2010 Offseason I - The Year after the Year after effect

Is it a violation if this person already knew DW before college, friends of family, etc.? Because that's the case here. Hokydad is of course the proud parent of a player of the game of Hoky, duh.

Still though, I think the players have some of their own gear, and the jersey is probably not worth over $1000 to them.

very good point. Jersey has a stated vale of 35 bucks, the rest you geta letter from NHL charities on as a tax deduction. So you see Steve, I didnt pay 1200......

Should have bid higher

Re: Boston University 2010 Offseason I - The Year after the Year after effect

please dont talk about stuff that you have no knowledge of or a clue on.

stick to guessing what jerseys players have and who knows who.

I know this stuff much better than you think. As much as I'd laugh if BU got sanctioned, I wouldn't want to see any player get punished because a jock sniffing drooler "who coached him for 8 years" ignorantly broke the rules.

You can't give a player ANYTHING while he's an amateur. If you're smart, you'll wait until he graduates or leaves. Too bad you're not smart, "coach".

You wouldn't have donated $1100+ unless you were getting the jersey, you paid that much for the item because you would get the item.

Keep the freakin' jersey. I'm happy for you that apparently you have enough money that you can spend it with the intention of giving it away, but no matter who you are, I don't think a gift that you paid over $1000 for is appropriate for anyone unless you are family, and I'm pretty sure that's not the case here. And that's just from the common sense point of view. From a compliance/eligibility standpoint, it's asinine. I hope that really wasn't going through your head when you bought it.

If anyone has any good photoshop skills, please email me. I'm hoping to get a good picture created of a van and then get that Warso (happy, ewe?) jersey picture shrunk to a manageable size and put up on the van. Maybe put some posters of Michael Jackson, Stone Temple Pilots, and Radiohead on the side of the van as well. And some bags of candy and MAYBE a USHL logo.

Not that this isn't a fascinating discussion, but back to BU hockey...

Any info on the identity of the 3rd player suspended, or how long we can expect the three of them to be out?

Yea yea, I need help. Maybe I should stop posting and start following around young male hockey players in the USHL. Got any advice on which candy keeps them close? Twizzlers? Dippin Dots? Help me out.

Only Hokydad can get BC fans to warn someone to avoid doing something so BU and one of their players doesn't get punished. Congrats, Stalker, you should be involved in the middle east peace process.

Re: Boston University 2010 Offseason I - The Year after the Year after effect

A 100% big no to all 6 questions. Also called NCAA and said you are 100% wrong. A friend can give a gift to a student athlete anytime they want. Just cant do so loooking for perks back

Dont worry though, I will keep it until after he graduates. If he is not an NHL all star by then and its not worth Bobby Orr like money, I will pass it on. Wouldnt want you to lose sleep over it. Continue on with your shallow life

you are 100% wrong

A guide for Fans and Friends of Boston University Athletics

Have you ever:

Been a member of any organization promoting BU Athletics?

Helped to arrange employment for prospective or current student athletes?
Been involved in promoting BU athletics in any way?
Been a member of a varsity team at BU?
Are you the parent or guardian of a current or former BU student athlete?

As a Representative of Athletics Interests, you are bound by NCAA rules regarding your interaction with prospects and student athletes, and Boston University is responsible for your actions. In many cases, the eligibility of a student athlete or prospective student athlete may be affected by what you know or don't know about these rules. Please click on the link above for important information about the Do's and Don'ts of being a Friend of Boston University Athletics.

We operate under the assumption that it is always better to ask the question than to do something that may not be permissible.

I'll try to stear this back on topic although it will leave again immediately, Hokydad infestations are generally quite severe.

One of my friends thinking out loud said that it could have something to do with the rumored departure of #17, I personally doubt it, but just food for thought.

Perhaps I have taken too many pucks to the mellon, but what were they suspended for? I thought it was the use of the BU Terrier Logo, but if this video/audio was put out after they were suspended, it couldn't be for that.

Also is there any clue to the third player that might be suspended as well?

The suspensions have nothing to do with the logo, with Scarlet's contacts I do not doubt that she has heard from Athletics that no one can use the logo. However, the school does not (and really cannot) do anything about a random kid or two just using the logo for a non revenue generating project, I have seen this from experience. The school might be slightly stricter with the high profile athletes than they are with random students, but no chance would it result in a suspension.
