Boston University 2010-11 Part III - Is That So Much To Ask?

Re: Boston University 2010-11 Part III - Is That So Much To Ask?

I'm really surprised to see people saying the team has regressed as the season has gone on. I have not seen that at all and completely disagree. I'll go into more detail at some point if I get the chance, but I just don't see it. I think the majority of the team has gotten better throughout the second semester for the most part.

I think more along these lines... Look forward to your analysis.

http://www.boston.com/yourtown/news/west_roxbury/2011/03/cms_hetnik_commits_to_bu.html

Boston.com is reporting this too... I don't know how this can be a miscommunication. Pretty strange.

It's on Boston.com, unfortunately, because I wrote it. Talked to Hanson and he essentially said everything in there is accurate except for the whole "committed" part, which is not at all what he told me the first time we talked. Hanson and the Hetnik's have had sitdowns with Parker, and BU is way, way up at the top of the kid's list. Multiple times, Hanson said, "and Hetnik will be playing at BU in two years," or something to that effect. I asked him if that was official and if I could report it, and I guess he misunderstood my question and replied yes.

I wrote the story, and I guess when Hetnik Sr. saw it, he called Bill, and that's when Bill called my editor and the story got pulled.

Like I said, a "miscommunication." Hanson fully expects Hetnik Jr. to end up at BU, still, as do I, at this point.

Re: Boston University 2010-11 Part III - Is That So Much To Ask?

Bucky seals the perfect night for BU. Dartmouth, Maine, Western, Minny and CC all lose and BU now sits 13th in the PWR.

Re: Boston University 2010-11 Part III - Is That So Much To Ask?

A good overall effort, other than the PP.
- 4th line is quickly becoming a favorite. Justin Courtnall is Zach Cohen redux, plus more speed. I can seem him turning into a 12-15 goal scorer given how he has played lately. And great to see Gilroy showing his skill. Rosen is a great along the boards.
- haven't read the series thread, I'm sure there are lots of comments on the officiating. My take: a few bad calls, with BU getting a slight benefit. the holding call 2 minutes in on Periera was horrible. as was the call on NU when Chiasson hit the ice. The calls came in streaks (against BU in the first, against NU in the second) which made it seem worse in my opinion
- The Olesiak goal was one of those flubbers that is deflected as it is shot, giving it a crazy trajectory.
- The PP: The Umbrella has GOT TO GO. Honestly, I don't mind if the team is getting opportunities on the PP and not cashing in. But that set-up has no hope of success unless you are playing a JV team. The pass to the guy in the slot doesn't work, because he has to turn his whole body after receiving the pass from the point man or the wings. By the time he turns, he has three sticks on him. And having one guy at the point, in the middle of the ice reduces the options of the wingers when they get pressured. It's a much tougher pass to go diagonally to the middle of the blue line than it is to bank it off the boards up to the point. Please, PLEASE go back to a simple set-up with two guys at the point, two skill guys on the wings, and a big body in front (Chiasson, heck, put Courtnall in the there).
- Nice class by the NU fans telling Parker to shut up.

I saw Bomber before the game and we both had a feeling that BU would win this one (despite my earlier post about NU having the killer instinct). Glad it panned out that way.:D

Joey Periera REFUSED to allow his college career to end last night. Good for him.

This was a sloppy game for both teams. I guess BU was less sloppy. Love that 4th line. They should have gotten some power play time. Couldn't be any worse. :(

Yay, that call when Chiasson stepped on the puck was pretty awful. Hey, **** happens.

Northeastern fans were loud. If only they could have drowned out their band.

BU Hockey: One

The group I sit with have been saying the same thing... I like the energy they bring out onto the ice.. competing along the boards, giving it their all when going for loose pucks etc etc. And I agree with Bombers thought about the power play.. The fourth line guys, throwing the puck in and crashing the net couldn't be any worse than the pass around the perimiter and then try to feed in to the guy in the middle who has 3 guys on him system we have been trying the past several games.

Come out with the same energy tomorrow and they should move on.

Wow. Unfortunate Winter Break timing at BU.

Re: Boston University 2010-11 Part III - Is That So Much To Ask?

LOVED seeing Joe put in that extra push we all thought he would. So often they can't get that cushion goal in the third...obv nice to see that.

What a difference a Noonan makes?? MUCH better job on D, although the bar was set pretty low on Thursday. Can't help but think that having a full set of defensemen was the reason for this.

The officiating...I think it's horrible. Ruins any flow to a game that really should be a hard hitting fast paced matchup between these two teams. I really wish they would just take 5 mins from the start of the game and let them play...see if they can play a physical game without taking it too far. I get the feeling that in both of these games the refs are worried about losing control from the drop of the puck and so they call everything...kind of embarassing if you ask me.

Love the idea of going 2-2-1 on the PP and really wish they would've given the 4th line some PP time as a reward. They sure as hell deserve it.

Overall..loved the effort, but a game that really could've gone the other way with the posts NU hit and if Rawlings didn't decide to play goalie from within his own net. I'm sure we'll see Witt Sunday with the strong job he did stepping in. Given that I don't think the officiating will change, I think special teams will be the difference in this one. BU can't keep going at this clip and expect to win in game with 15+ penalties a game.

Hope they can pull it off!

it's actually 11, something like 600 people total

Re: Boston University 2010-11 Part III - Is That So Much To Ask?

Thank God they're also red and white as it looks like it's all BU people. They are obnoxious and inconsiderate. At least the NU fans and band get the back and forth and don't play/cheer over BU. Hockey fans are definitely better than b-ball fans.

Re: Boston University 2010-11 Part III - Is That So Much To Ask?

This day is starting out poorly. Terriers look totally outmatched.

Re: Boston University 2010-11 Part III - Is That So Much To Ask?

Almost five minutes played, Terriers have yet to score. Maybe it's something in the air in this building. This could be a loooooong day.
