Re: Boston University 2010-11 Part III - Is That So Much To Ask?
A good overall effort, other than the PP.
- 4th line is quickly becoming a favorite. Justin Courtnall is Zach Cohen redux, plus more speed. I can seem him turning into a 12-15 goal scorer given how he has played lately. And great to see Gilroy showing his skill. Rosen is a great along the boards.
- haven't read the series thread, I'm sure there are lots of comments on the officiating. My take: a few bad calls, with BU getting a slight benefit. the holding call 2 minutes in on Periera was horrible. as was the call on NU when Chiasson hit the ice. The calls came in streaks (against BU in the first, against NU in the second) which made it seem worse in my opinion
- The Olesiak goal was one of those flubbers that is deflected as it is shot, giving it a crazy trajectory.
- The PP: The Umbrella has GOT TO GO. Honestly, I don't mind if the team is getting opportunities on the PP and not cashing in. But that set-up has no hope of success unless you are playing a JV team. The pass to the guy in the slot doesn't work, because he has to turn his whole body after receiving the pass from the point man or the wings. By the time he turns, he has three sticks on him. And having one guy at the point, in the middle of the ice reduces the options of the wingers when they get pressured. It's a much tougher pass to go diagonally to the middle of the blue line than it is to bank it off the boards up to the point. Please, PLEASE go back to a simple set-up with two guys at the point, two skill guys on the wings, and a big body in front (Chiasson, heck, put Courtnall in the there).
- Nice class by the NU fans telling Parker to shut up.
I saw Bomber before the game and we both had a feeling that BU would win this one (despite my earlier post about NU having the killer instinct). Glad it panned out that way.
