Not to mention he got pumped by pavelski a couple times in a fight in the playoffs. Pav almost put Whitney on the ice. freaking great

Can you tell me the time in that video where he "almost put Whitney on the ice?" Looked like a pretty even fight where neither almost did anything to the other.

I just want to tell the team good luck. We're all counting on you.

Re: Boston University 2009-2010 Season Thread III: From the Beanpot until the end...

According to the media guide, Brown's 17 is the most by a d-man in a single season. The most in a career was Brian Gilmour, who tallied 36 from '64-'67. Cohen has 19 right now, so you figure he'd have to repeat this year's goal total at least next year to have a shot at that.

Career goals? Colby has 25. 3 in freshman year, 8 last year, 14 so far this year.

Re: Boston University 2009-2010 Season Thread III: From the Beanpot until the end...

Anyone know what our out of conference schedule is looking like for next year?

4 of the games will be the Beanpot and GLI. I'd assume 1 of the remaining 3 will be a home game vs. Harvard since they won't face each other in the 1st round of the Beanpot. As for the remaining 2, I've heard rumors of each of the following matchups:
@ Cornell or vs. Cornell
@ RPI
vs. Denver

I'll almost guarantee BU won't be visiting both Cornell and RPI. Either one of those games would make sense, though. The original rumor for Red Hot Hockey was that it would include games on campus as well as at MSG, so a trip to Lynah or a game at Agganis would put that back into play. BU played RPI last year in Denver and this year at Agganis, so a trip to Troy would make sense. As for Denver, BU's had a pretty good rotation going with them and the last meeting was at Denver. Again, those are all just rumors, though. I haven't heard from anyone all that trustworthy that any of these are happening, or are even in the works.

I haven't heard any rumors about these matchups, but they could also make sense given recent history: @ Yale or vs. Dartmouth. Yale visited Agganis in 06-07 and BU hasn't returned the visit. BU visited Dartmouth in both 05-06 and 06-07 and Dartmouth has only returned one of those games so far.

Re: Boston University 2009-2010 Season Thread III: From the Beanpot until the end...

Thanks FL.

Do we also owe North Dakota and Michigan State visits for their games at Agganis last year? Or are Ice Breaker and In-Season tournaments usually exempt from 'owing' a return visit?

I would say those are different since that's not like an inseason tournament run by BU, such as the Dartmouth tournament, or the Denver Cup.

As for the DU games, the original series back in 04-05 ish, was a 2 team east/west series with BU and UMass playing two on the road and at home with DU and CC over two years.

Oops, good call CC. When I look at his page on GoTerriers, I read his Hockey East stats instead of his regular season ones. Reading fail...

So your answer to Beantown6's question is no?

Re: Boston University 2009-2010 Season Thread III: From the Beanpot until the end...

It doesn't bode well that there are only eight posts left until "the end"
Especially since I'm wasting one right now...
Maybe we meant... the end... of the regular season?

Re: Boston University 2009-2010 Season Thread III: From the Beanpot until the end...

Surely you aren't counting on BU...

Did you never see Airplane?? If not, get thee to a Blockbuster, or contact NetFlix.

OMG!! I saw the movie and didn't even get the reference. Egg on my face.

And stop calling me Shirley!!!

Re: Next Year's OOC Schedule

So 7 OOC's:

Beanpot x2 is a given

Since we're not playing Harvard in the first round I assume we'll play them the Tuesday before thanksgiving, and at HAA since this year was at Bright

Last year we were reportedly going to the GLI in the 10/11 season, but I have actually heard that the team is going to Notre Dame's Shillelagh Tournament, instead, and the GLI will be the following year. Not sure if that is true, but if we go to either tournament that is 2 more OOC's

That leaves us with two more games:

In addition to the reported Shillelagh we owe Notre Dame a return visit, but I had heard they were waiting to cash in on that until their new stadium was built, which would be the 11/12 season

Rule of thumb is tournament games don't get a return visit, meaning we do not owe MSU or North Dakota a return visit for the Ice Breaker, and likewise Denver doesn't owe us one for their Cup. The St. Lawrence game last year was a one-off so no return visit required. One of the games at Dartmouth was at their tournament so we're also even in home vs away games with them. And I can only assume HC doesn't expect us to go to Worcester to visit them.

The RPI game this year was supposedly the start of the two teams playing one game a year with some frequency so I think it is likely one of the two remaining games would be a trip up to Troy.

That would leave one more game, with the only other team that we have an ongoing schedule tie with is Cornell, and I doubt they would go back to MSG so soon, so it's possible we could host them or go to Lynah, but I just have a gut feeling that won't happen next year (based off of nothing) so maybe some random other game.

He asked if anyone knew what the OOC schedule was "looking like." I have an idea of what it might look like, so I shared. He didn't ask if anyone knew what it was definitely going to be.

Re: Next Year's OOC Schedule

Interesting. I hadn't heard that about possibly swapping the GLI for the Shillelagh. Either way, safe to say two of the OOC will be in one of those tourneys. And I agree that vs. Harvard and @ RPI both seem likely. The vs. Denver rumor was one I had heard a while ago. They've played each other a number of times in the last decade and they might decide they want to keep that series going. Plus, after not playing a WCHA team this year, I would think BU will make an effort to get one next year (unless they play Tech in the first round of the GLI -- not sure how those matchups are decided). I'm crossing my fingers for a trip to Lynah, but I'm not holding my breath.

Also forgot to mention the rumor came up of BU going to one of the next two IceBreakers that are both in St. Louis. However, IIRC teams need to go 4 years between IceBreakers to get those games exempted from the 34, so who knows?

would playing Tech really qualify as playing a "WCHA" team? Sure, they are one, but the point of playing a 'WCHA' team is to play a top-flight western opponent, and they surely do not fit into that category. That'd be like Minnesota searching to play a big time HE team and choosing Merrimack.
