I was really impressed with how fundamentally sound the team played tonight. One would think that a top tier college program shouldn't have problem with fundamentals, but this team has all year. Tonight, they broke out of the zone by working it up along the boards. They didn't try to get out of the zone by making cross-ice passes nor did they make cross ice passes in the attack zone. The team probably gave up 3-6 odd man rushes per game all season long, maybe there was 1 tonight. First line was dominant again... Pressure is off this team now, maybe they can do what Providence did in 2015.

don't forget.... in 09 bu took care of tOSU in the first round as well...

What a great win. So glad I changed plans so I could go in with my boys.
- The first period went as I sort of feared the whole game would go. BU didn't look terrible, they just could generate the same offensive pressure off their forecheck. PC had a much better breakout than BU. Oettinger kept them in the game.
- Then BU slowly took over and was the better team for pretty much the rest of the game, save for a couple spells in the third period. They didn't dominate the way they did against BC, but they had better opportunities.
- Kbz hit the nail on the head - BU had a great breakout using the boards. I haven't seen them do that much all season, but it was very effective.
- Glad to see the 4th line get lots of shifts. I thought they held their own overall.
- Really happy for Oettinger. He definitely had his struggles earlier in the year. But he has been great down the stretch. Not to many goalies with the HE Title with a shutout, good for him. He was fired up during the ceremony.
- The TV didn't catch Tkachuk's premature celebration. When the clock stopped with a couple seconds left, he didn't hear the whistle, so he flung his stick way up into the air and leaped onto the ice. A PC player calmly swatted his stick out of the air. On the telecast you can just see the stick come flying into the picture. It was pretty funny.

Hockey East Champs! Who'd a thunk it?

I still think you're getting Cornell but if it is Ohio State that should be a good one. I think they are better than Cornell. ECAC was weak and Cornell just lost to Princeton. Getting OSU probably means you're in a region with Denver which I think is the team nobody wants to see.

Silly question...Didn't hockey east used to sell champions gear? You know...the on-ice hat, sweatshirt etc. I need a new sweatshirt and was thinking why not? I don't see it on their website anymore.

Team seems to be coming together at the right time. Hopefully they get to play in Worcester. I mean...PC got to play in Providence in 2015 so it's only fair.

Ha well none of it is really "fair". A #1 seed having to play a Boston school in Worcester wouldn't be classified as fair. But that's the system. BC has benefited from it before and as you say, PC too.

You know, I’ve been complaining EVERY HE Tournament about wanting the first game. I, as a fan, have had to deal with the first game going into OT on more than one occasion, with once having BU’s game starting at 10:45. Never have I heard anybody but me being the whiner. Which is fine, that’s my role. :) Coach Leaman now calling their late game a factor. Saw one or two other comments from fans - need to take a look at it because teams that play in the late game have a disadvantage. Well, that’s the point. So, calling on Sean Pickett or any others here with the time to research which teams with the late game have won the championship game. I know in 2009, BU and BC had to wait for UML and NU as their game went into OT. And the BU-BC game should have been the first game as it was a 1-4 seeds game.

Anyway....the lack of press coverage about last night’s game is quite annoying. I don’t think one local news station was there. Which, whatever. But no mention on the 11pm sports? Disappointing.

And GilroytoBonino - they were selling hats last night. Someone grabbed the last one before I could buy one.

Thanks. HE website used to sell sweatshirts, seems they don't anymore. Mine from 2006 is getting pretty ratty as you can imagine.

Also...in 2006 BC crushed BU in Woosta as we all recall. Two teams from the same conference cannot meet in the first round. Personally, I really like when teams within a conf. get split up as much as possible. It gets tiring playing the same teams over and over again...

We shouldn’t have to beat bc for the nationals. Hell we can beat them anytime.

The BU-BC game in Worcester was the regional final, not the first round. BU crushed Nebraska-Omaha in the first game. Can’t remember who BC beat.

Well, it looks like (not official yet) we won't be playing them. They are predicted to be in Bridgeport. Looks like Ohio State in Worcester as of now.
