Re: Boston University 17-18 - thread El Segundo

Well no technically you didn't. BC is still alive. But Harvard could end their season at any moment.

Honestly, IMO, BC's season is over.
Respectable but not a great season.

Not that I don’t believe you but wasn’t EVERYONE saying whoever lost tonight, their season was over?? How is BC still alive and now BU has to win tomorrow? Who screwed BU over? Princeton?

I believe BC makes the NCAA Tournament with the following results:
Clarkson over Harvard
Northeastern/Providence over BU
Minnesota Duluth/Denver over North Dakota
Clarkson over Princeton
Northern Michigan over Michigan Tech

I don't believe the others matter.

Re: Boston University 17-18 - thread El Segundo

So all that talk about seasons being on the line was just a marketing ploy then. Because all of those scenarios can easily happen.

I think those scenarios are probable at best. (which means slim and none). There’s one less available slot because Minnesota State lost in their conference tournament. I think somehow if this score holds we have a better chance against Providence. But you DON’T want to have to come from behind against them. Another first period like tonight’s and forget it.
Man, what game were you watching? Maybe you don't actually watch and just trot out the same tired old script.

BU had numerous chances and dominated possession in the first and second periods. Yes BC was up 2-0 but those goals were against the run of play.

Yeah, I thought I was critical.... We clearly outplayed BC throughout the game and I would say dominated them through the first 40 minutes. We were pretty bad the first ten or so of OT but then the tide began to turn ahead of our goal. I have to be fair to Quinn - if you didn't know who the home team was, you'd think it was BU. He dictated the matchups all game long and I think this was the single biggest reason we won. Completely out-coached Jehwy. DQ even properly utilized the TO!

I actually meant just the opposite. It was a shot at OSU, who has taken the Atlantic Hockey non-con route to 2 straight NCAA tourneys

I know Mike McMahon talked about this recently but it does seem like simply scheduling games against Atlantic Hockey is the way to go. Rack up those wins and you'll be fine. As an example, look at NU. Very good team but they feasted on Atlantic Hockey this year.

Penn State last year also. It was especially egregious last year because the Big only had 20 conference games, so PSU and OSU were not only playing cupcakes, they were playing a lot of cupcakes

Re: Boston University 17-18 - thread El Segundo

I am not finding any scenario in which we get an at-large bid. CHN also says we have a 46% of getting the auto bid and 0% of getting an at-large.

Exactly. NU wouldn't have beat BC head to head. Hockey East needs to ban those lollipop schedules.

Tom Caron just said the Hockey East Tournament was at Conte Forum for the two years after it was at the Providence Civic Center. I don’t think that’s true....is it?

So what changed? Because yesterday there were a couple of scenarios that would’ve gotten them in provided they won tonight.
