Boston College Season Thread: PART II

Re: Boston College Season Thread: PART II

I saw on the USCHO write up that Parker Milner was named the region's Most Outstanding Player-- deservingly so. Who else made the All-Regional Team? I have to think Patrick Wey, Chris Kreider and Johnny Gaudreau would all be good candidates.

F: Jack Connolly, Jake Hendrickson, Chris Kreider
D: Tommy Cross, Patrick Wey
G: Patrick Milner (plus MOP)

Jerry parker most outstanding coach of regional

Don't like the hendrickson choice just because he added an ENG against maine.

Re: Boston College Season Thread: PART II

Haha fair enough, but I don't think anyone expected this type of year going into the season and especially after the trip to Maine.

BC still refuses to acknowledge that the Maine weekend happened:

01/13/12 at Massachusetts Amherst, Mass. L, 4-0
01/14/12 vs. Northeastern Fenway Park; Boston, Mass. W, 2-1
01/20/12 at Maine Orono, Maine 7:00 p.m. ET
01/21/12 at Maine TV Orono, Maine L, 7-4

01/27/12 vs. New Hampshire TV Chestnut Hill, Mass. W, 4-3
01/28/12 at New Hampshire Durham, N.H. W, 3-2

Thanks, Melissa. Even though he didn't have a point on Saturday, I thought Gaudreau really stood out with his creativity. Then he did it again on Sunday, plus produced a goal and an assist. If two BC defensemen were gonna be on the regional team, I would have said Wey and Dumoulin.

From my vantage point, Cross and Shea seemed to have an occasional difficulty clearing the puck out of the defensive zone. Did anyone else see it this way?

That just sadly shows how little people know about college hockey (other than us niche fans).

Contrats to BC on your 5th National Championship!

I have not watched BC all that much this year (other than when they played BU) and I knew Kreider was good.... but having watched this weekend on TV, I didn't realize he was THAT good. Really... might have well given Lucic one of those mustard colored jerseys and sent him out there too!

Re: Boston College Season Thread: PART II

Oh, and was that you who i saw when we were walking outside Fivehole12?
I dunno. I had on my blue and white 'Yellowstone' jacket and my Maroon BC Hockey hat on. Did you see me?

BTW... the jacket and hat are 14-0. ;) Bought the jacket in Montana during Beanpot week. The hat, which I've had for years, never worked in the past so it was shelved for 'bad luck'. But then, my 2001 Albany FF hat, which I usually wear, went on a losing streak, ending with the 2 games at Maine, so I 'benched' it. ;) So the maroon hat is on the current streak with the new jacket.

Anyone in Tampa seeing a guy walking around in 80 degree weather with a fleece lined 'Yellowstone' jacket, dripping with sweat, that's me. The jacket and hat will be in Tampa. ;) :)

I think Kreider's been an interesting case this year.

The tools are there no doubt, he's had NHL speed since he stepped on campus. He's also had the moves since FR year (see the undressing of Nicastro). Since he's added the size he's taken another huge step. Now we're looking at a kid who is not only the fastest in the country but has about 60+ pounds on Johnny G (think about that).

I think BC has had trouble finding a player that compliments his skills. Him & Jimmy complimented each other so well last year -IMO we haven't found someone who has clicked with him on the same level. I do like adding Destry to Kevin & Kreider's line. That's some serious size and we saw them do work along the boards against Air Force. It'll also help Destry in the long run.

Also this guy is a money player in big games.
Beanpot: 6 games, 5 goals, 2 assts
HE Semis/Finals: 4 games, 1 goal 6 assts (remember the broken jaw last year)
NCAAs: 7 games, 3 goals 2 assts

One more thing, Chris please don't try to jump any more hip checks

Glad to see I'm not the only one psychotic when it comes to game day attire :D

LOL... was that you? We had just parked and were walking to the arena and you guys were walking the other way. I said, "Hey, did we win?"
Now if you had asked, I would have turned you around, as 100 yards ahead in the direction I was walking was a Uno's Chicago Bar and Grille. ;)

hahhaha, that's right, i knew you said something like that and i thought you knew it was me. I ended up at UNO but had already been there when we saw you and it was packed then after wandering around for a few minutes, a few seats had opened up and we got in...........

Re: Boston College Season Thread: PART II

Has anyone done a cursory check to see how few early departures BC typically has? I suppose nothing points to the relative strengths of a program than where a school ranks in terms of early departures. I'm guessing we are in the very few category.

Re: Boston College Season Thread: PART II

One thing that has somewhat gone overlooked is that BC is the only team in the Frozen Four that has players who have been to a Frozen Four, let alone win a National Championship.

Oh definitely, it's something that has allowed BC 10 FFs in the past 15 years. Kids leave early sure (Schneider, Gerbe, Atkinson, etc.) but the vast majority of them are on campus for 3 years

Starting with the graduating class of 1999, every graduating class has been to at least 2 FFs except the 2005. That is unbelievable.

Nah. I had just come down the stairs and was talking to the guy behind me when I see these two OLD guys ;) in BC gear going the other way. Never really got a glimpse of your faces. If I had, I probably would have tripped you and said something like, "Hey Joe, you're going the wrong way stupid." LOL. ;) :D

You going to Tampa?

I haven't been around too much this year, not much happening with le chandail noir and his travails, but I'm naturally betting on BC. I don't plan on giving up my job, but perhaps a small seaside cottage at Manchester-By-The-Sea will do. Good luck, Eagles.
